Hi Bart, Static balance was succesful, the bent shaft was probably the root cause. Working in an oil refinery many years ago I used to dynamic balance electric motor rotors after bearing replacement on a Schenk balancing machine. Added weight by rivetting washer or washers on the round protrusions of the rotor or removing some material of the round protrusions.

Thank you for taking the time to learn English. Coming from a person that speaks two languages I know how hard it is to think in your native language and talk in another language. I have been looking at your other videos and also find it funny that you curse in english.

Gday Bart, the 2 surface finish’s are chalk and cheese, definitely worth all the effort to get it right, sometimes you have to think outside the box to get the best solution for the job and that really worked with the bench grinder to eliminate the runout, absolutely brilliant job mate, always something to learn from your videos, thanks for sharing, cheers

Looking much better now,Bart. Definitely the right decision to fit high grade bearings from a reputable brand in the future. Even a simple bench grinder is greatly improved by balancing and fitting good quality bearings. Edit to add: I forgot to mention earlier that the shaft in this type of motor can usually be pressed out of the rotor and a new one pressed back in. I have pressed a couple out and flipped the rotor 180 degrees and then pressed the shaft back into the rotor. The purpose I did this was to reverse the rotation of the motor.
@bartharkemametalworks22992 жыл бұрын
Thanks, and good to know for the future that you can press out the shaft.

How did you judge when the belt tension was tight enough at the end of the video? Can you make it slip with a lot of force by hand? Thanks.
@bartharkemametalworks2299 Жыл бұрын
It's not possible to slip it by hand. And there is a lightening instruction in the manual.
@TheMudfly80 Жыл бұрын
Thanks. Mine has instructions on how to tighten it but just says 'until correct tension is achieved'. I'll make sure it doesnt slip, should be fine.

I don’t think it was so easy to diagnose the source of the vibration. The repair was really impressive. Does dressing the wheel come into play here? Does it have one? Anyway, nice work as usual.
@bartharkemametalworks22992 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yes first I thought it would be the wheel or the spindle. But then I noticed vibrations on the machine without having a wheel on there. So it needed to be in the drive system.
@bartharkemametalworks22992 жыл бұрын
And yes. Wheel balancing is important. I did dress, balance and dress the wheel and sides before use. But that made no changes with the vibrations that I got. So it was not in the wheel.

@bartharkemametalworks22992 жыл бұрын
Dus geheel best goed in lijn.

Very Good Video I have a similar machine & its belt gets down from the pulley. I've replaced the Anti vibration mounts of the motor. But when I am tensioning the belt, it seems that the rubber mounts gets bent and the belt doesn't get tightened. Can you advise?
@bartharkemametalworks22992 жыл бұрын
Mine does the same. But make sure your belt tension is not to much. It should not pull the rubber mounts to much with normal tension. For tension. The hanging weight of the motor should be enough. Maybe a little more but not much.
