Every time I want to hear a Mozart Piano Sonata I always end up with Ingrid Haebler. There are so many fabulous pianist in this world but her readings always seem to just take the spirit of Mozart to another level. It's never about virtuosity with Haebler and the music just soars.

The spirit is the right word. Even her staccato each has a different character. She's the rarest.

It is a very good thing, that we have so many different interpretations of musical artworks just as this/the Mozart piano sonatas. Beauty is to be found everywhere.

Yup, thats how I like my Mozart... Self-controlled with that special touch of late-classic-individualism that opened the way for Beethoven and other early romantic composers...

Her left hand is very special to be able to make each note and texture special . The kind of music -making here is impossible for most of us . In the simplest piano music one can tell when true greatness speaks . Here in her chopin Nocturnes schumann Kinderszenen is one of the most sensitive players imaginable .She can change a notes color in a millisecond each phrase .I can't imagine ahand like this ~CurzonPires,Uchida,Barenboim,perahia,Schiff,FazilSaySolomon,CumanygoodMozarteans.ShouldbeimprisonedthefollowingArrau,Landowska,SchnabelNO!harrietCohenbetter than both but not a model forMozart.

I'd say this is the best or at least my favorite interpretation of this piece and other ones from this series I've ever heard! It feels so light, and it's exceptionally "easy" to listen, if that makes sense. I love it!

A performance that seems like something Mozart would like himself, which I can’t say I feel for most of the performances today. Very elegant and articulate.

Interesting comment. For me pianists like Ingrid Haebler and Clara Haskil are the ones who set the bar for Mozart. Most pianists sound different to me, many have a strange romantic approach or a certain showmanship which defeats the purpose of Mozart's very personal and quite intimate works. Restraint and respect are the keywords for me.

@@bartjebartmans I thought the same. Their performances are amazing. Other pianists I don't know... I have the sensation the want to be so clear that sometimes it's like show off or so. Don't know how to explain it. Haebler's articulations are so interesting and beautiful. I really appreciate the work you do uploading music with amazing performances as well as the sheet music.

Tempo?Listen to the perfect Mozartean execution. She gets HerrM Gould understood maybe Schonberg. His Bach is great cuz it's not Bach style and the1960s crowds ate it up . Hear Gould awful Beethoven and Mozart. His Chopin3rdSonata and Scriabin5 would get him detained and thrown out of any conservatory. Lady next door has more taste in Mozart than Gould!Haebler should have a churchbe sanctified!

Love following on the manuscript, thanks! A bit too staccato for my taste but clearly on the manuscript by the young master! Too crisp on the pianoforte, bet I'd love it on a lovely "Walter" fortepiano. Wouldn't be so abrupt-sounding

Is the Breitkopf in the manuscript a reference to the publishers firm Breitkopf & Härtel ? What was the purpose of this collection? It is obviously written as a whole fair copy, has no traces of corrections.
@karstennottelmann7646
@karstennottelmann7646 4 жыл бұрын
The note on the first page refers to Breitkopf & Härtel's 1798 edition of this sonata (as part of a collection of seven sonatas which itself was the first volume of their "Oeuvres complètes" collection). It was written by Georg Nicolaus Nissen, Constanze Mozart's second husband, in the late 1790s (in this case, obviously after Breitkopf's edition came out) when Mozart's manuscripts (the so-called Nachlass) were checked and catalogued. Constanze Mozart tried to sell the Nachlass to Breitkopf & Härtel, but as they showed little interest in the collection as a whole (they focussed on "major" works), the manuscripts were finally sold to Breitkopf's competitor Johann Anton André in Offenbach in late 1799, early 1800.

This interpretation is a bit too restrained for my taste. Though I am very fond of the tempi Haebler chooses here. and her elegant and intimate approach, it seems that the 'spirito' Mozart demands to play the first movement with is here a rather insecure one. One example: After having played the first motif forte, Haebler changes to piano already in the second bar and does not go beyond mezzoforte, so the contrast Mozart wants (us) to make for the seventh bar (second subject in piano) is not audible. - I don't know if it is only the recording but, actually, all dynamical contrasts are too weak I think.

My answer to you is to play it for yourself and practice what you preach. I play these sonatas myself my whole life and Ingrid nails them for me. Question: why do you think I take the time and effort to upload these treasures? Mozart's original handwriting with an excellent performance...... again, not good enough. Welcome to KZbin land. Maybe I should just disable the comment section so I don't have to read this kind of nitpicking as if we don't already live in a horrendously ugly negative world as it is! Let this be a place of peace, beauty and positive interactions! And please. don't accuse me of being "too sensitive" "don't take it personal" "it is my opinion and i have a right to it" etc. etc. etc. After all this channel is a product of my imagination and creativity, nobody else's.

@@bartjebartmans First: Thank you very much for your upload and all your enjoyable uploads in general. With your channel, I discovered many works and composers I wouldn't have known otherwise. Of course my comment is 'nitpicking' and you have every right to be not pleased at all. In fact, however, I am currently practicing this sonata myself and, additionally, I am generally a great fan of Haebler's playing (for example, I really love her interpretation of no. 12 and no. 15). It just did not fit for me here and I liked to maybe contribute to a discussion. - And I have to add - sorry -, this video is partly a product of Ingrid Haebler's imagination and creativity, and I criticized exactly this part. Thank you very much for the opportunity ;)
