Interesting story: his guitar is missing one string (high E) because at the time of writing this song he had a broken guitar which was missing strings. He did not want to go outside to replace them. While composing the song I imagine it would have felt and sounded similar to this performance.

***** If they were a one-hit wonder, I could see someone get tired of hearing the same request over time. That's obviously not the case here. As someone who writes and plays music, I'd say that I love and feel the music enough that it's still enjoyable to play a song that I've played 1000 times before. Part of being a musician is seeing the enjoyment that your music brings to others... and if that means playing a song that's been overplayed, so be it.

People need to understand that this is meant to be a light acoustic rendition. He's not going to hit the same notes at the original recorded version. But that along with the condition of his voice should be enough reason for him not to go all out on this acoustic session. You don't need to be a psychic to know that's his intention, it's obvious. He likely cannot hot the high notes, yeah, but that doesn't matter when it's this kind of performance.
