How do you get out of the waves? I press R2 and in the direction of the wave and nothing happens, so I just keep getting hit by the lip. Ps5

Thanks for the question. Just hold in R2 when you are clear of the lip, and you'll be fine to flick off. Anywhere near the barrel or the pocket is usually trouble, so you don't want to risk it there. For me, I usually pump for a bit to get clear of the lip (to get a bit of space) and then press R2 to pull out. Give yourself some room away from the lip and try and look down the line to see what the wave is actually doing as you would IRL. Anytime you see that it's starting to barrel near the lip, it's too late. And, it pays to practice in Free Surf. Once you get a feel for how the waves are breaking it just clicks in your mind. Just don't get caught anywhere near either the foam and also watch out for the end sections, or you'll get hammered. I think we're going to have to add this part to a walkthrough video we're working on.

Why does the way the board looks on the water look completely different here to what's on my ps5? My board just completely disappears when covered with water and just looks weird. Also find it hard to pull off waves when pressing R2. Ill get a really good wave in a comp and then try and pull off pressing R2 but it doesnt seem to register and i just get smashed by the wave ruining my score

Hey there, just checked the PS5 here and it should be the same so not sure what's happening there? Things are going to change again on the water side in the too distant future with updates as we go along. For pulling out of a wave. Yes, just press R2 when you are clear of the lip, and you'll be fine to flick off. You can't leave too early or too late though - you've got to aim for a section down the line that hasn't started to barrel, and that will allow you to exit as you would in reality. @@BartonLynchProSurfing sweet cheers. Love the game otherwise. The changing conditions just makes it so much more realistic. Even just something as simple as paddling out just makes it feel more like you're actually in the surf.
