I did a 71 at this today and it felt amazing! 8 blacks and 1 pink and made a stupid mistake ending it. Such a breakthrough though and all thanks to your fantastic channel. When I started I could hardly pot 4 balls on the run. I usually make a 39 or 41 over an hour or 2 but today I did 18 shots on the run! It really feels amazing walking back and forth around the table with a bit of a swagger, analysing the next shot and then executing the pot with the position. You feel like an actual snooker player :))) I really can't express how good this channel is to learn from. I watch no one else as I don't want to get confused by the learning and practice process. A guy asked me for a match during my practice and I said OK. I won all 3 matches but to be honest, practice is so much more enjoyable than playing at the moment. I feel like I could spend a whole year on just this one exercise. I think I'll keep going until I hit a 100 and then try working on the 3-ball line up which I tried today but just couldn't work out the positional play. Hey HO! A whole new challenge! what an amazing game this is and such a lifelong challenge :)) Thank you so much for this channel! You're a legend!

Great routine - thanks - Very helpful, especially explanations - love that you use and explain when you are using traces of side for position, even though white never hits cushion - just to deflect the OB and run the white on a slightly different line. Well done Steve !!!! - Make more of these please - also please make a series of videos where you pick 1 colour, and work on different shots for different senarios eg on yellow explain how to get inside the pink spot either same side or coming across table off 2 cushions etc etc

What is the reasoning behind the side on the last black? I understand that screw is to avoid the middle pocket. Does side help in these acute angle pots ?
@BartonSnooker3 жыл бұрын
It's just to help the pot slightly. Lots of players find it easier to pot with a trace of side. It is called 'helping side'. If I pot to my left, I'll play right hand side. If I pot to my right, I'll play left hand side. You don't have to do it, but lots of players do.

Hi Steve. All was going well until 16.25 and I heard you say you would add ". . . a touch of left hand side because it helps the pot . . ." Could you please explain how it helps the pot? Are you not worried that the cueball will be deflected to the right and so miss the part of the pink you were aiming at? If you allow for this deflection is there a particular method you use or is it just the old saying of 'hit the shot a thousand times and get used to it!'? Very encouraging to see you get a lot of screwback with soft shots. I tend to overhit those. I'll be working on this.Thanks.

Hi Barton,great video. Could you move your GoPro over your vision center rather than vertically over your middle of the forehead,as down on the shot, it looks like the cue is slightly off,though it's not. Just to avoid the parallax error
@BartonSnooker3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately not 😕. The whole image is completely lop sided and it's not possible to correct. I did try it before but it's just so difficult as my forehead is not flat, so the camera ends up on a complete curve and looks even worse.

Saw a good line you might enjoy on a Melling/Pagulayan one pocket match just a bit ago. Nick Varner was doing one side of the commentary, and one good line was when Melling brought out the bridge he said "here comes the bridge, never a good sign with a snooker player". I thought you might appreciate that, I found it funny...there is a significant difference from what I've seen. With that living room sized table you guys play on, you obviously get a lot more bridge practice...even when you shoot well ambidextrous (or amphibious, as Danny DiLiberto likes to call it), or behind the back well, like say Ronnie O. Thx for the vid, always helpful, the POV is a nice format, I think, at least for certain topics, like shooting. Another good one he came up with was "I'm always uncomfortable when my opponent is shooting at his pocket". Dude is not only a master at pool, he's funny.

Hi Steve, great video as usual - when you are trying to gauge how hard you need to hit the white for say a stun shot to get position on the next colour, do you vary the speed you are delivering the cue, or just increase/decrease the amount of backswing in your action in order to moderate the power? Or is it a bit of a mixture of both?!

Great video, one question, in the moment of the shot, where you look at? The white ball, or the aiming ball?
@faizahmedmughal95503 жыл бұрын
It doesnt really matter as long as you are standing on the correct line of shot and you deliver the cue correctly you will pot the ball even with your eyes closed. Thats what I have experienced. Give it a try yourself.

But most snooker players tend to look at the object ball when they are about to deliver the cue.

@@blahtoausername Hi mate, sorry for the out of context question but I'm getting a decent slate bed Enlgish pool table and wondered if you had any advice on cloth. Hainsworth Smart cloth is the one being recommended but I wonder if it might play a little bit slow? Would their Match cloth be better or would it just wear out after a year of casual home play? Cheers for any tips if you can offer some.
@BartonSnooker3 жыл бұрын
@@DM-kv9kj I always find the Hainsworth Smart on snooker tables plays too slow. The Match is perfect, and the Precision is really fast and slippy, but would just wear out too quickly. I would personally try the Match and see how it lasts. Worst case is that you go for Smart next time. But my feeling is that Smart would be too slow.
