I had heard commentators saying about altering the angle with screw, but had assumed that, like from an object ball, it would throw wider. Quite surprised to see it throw shallow. And you could clearly see the cueball curve away to achieve that on your shot. Another revelation! Cheers SB.

@bartonsnooker hey steve, just a question regarding using side to curve the objectball in. are you still allowing for the deflection due to the use of side? also does the speed of the shot impact how spin is put on the object ball. lastly, do you use this regularly to pot thinner cuts?

Hi Mate ,once again Thank you. Regarding the Effect of the angle off the cushion to straighten the angle of the White coming off the cushion,,Amazing how many players use the same type of shot to straighten up a Double across the table. I sometimes use it,,But,, if hit too hard it will straitened the Object ball to Keep bouncing back forever in a straight line,Due to the effect of the Object Ball Digging into the Cush..Same principal I think.

I have a doubt regarding stance. Is it enough if I place my leg in the line of aim or is it mandatory to keep the leg straight and not bend it? For someone who is pretty tall it is difficult to keep the leg straight while aiming. I tend to bend a bit. Is that okay?

The screw into the cushion there, is that happening because the backspin counts as a bit of sidespin on the angle it leaves the cusion? As if the ball it pushing itself ever so slightly in that direction off of the cushion picking up speed and losing angle. If so, I reckon using frontspin is going to make it leave the cushion extra wide and lose some speed? I don't even play snooker lol but the physics of it all still intrigues me :p

Awesome video, Steve! However, I thought you would show us how to leave the white behind the black, while the red goes to the other side of the table - regarding shot #5. I'm still happy with this video though, awesome little tricks that can be a game changer :) Cheers!
@BartonSnooker
@BartonSnooker 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Martin, It's not actually possible to get the white behind the black on that shot. It's a good thing you point out though, as it's a mistake a lot of players make. Thinking too much about the white, and not the object ball. You MUST get the object ball safe FIRST, and then get a good cue ball as well if you can. In this example, you couldn't possibly leave the red safe and get the white anywhere near the black 👍

Thx for your inputs, Steve. However on the last shot with bottom right...isn't it so that Top will generate backspin when hitting the cushion? Or is it just pace? Additionally to that, will left cause some more trouble in terms of behind the black? 🤓 Thx in advance.
@BartonSnooker
@BartonSnooker 2 жыл бұрын
Over that distance the white is just naturally rolling by the time it gets to the cushion, so either top or bottom don't change what happens to the white much. The only reason the bottom is useful, is that it helps massively in getting the white spinning with the right hand side. Left hand side would take the white away from the black, so that's not helpful in that situation.
@ianos87
@ianos87 2 жыл бұрын
OK, so you mean right will move towards the black in terms of reverse side? Sometimes I'm slow in my brain...😂
@BartonSnooker
@BartonSnooker 2 жыл бұрын
@@ianos87 not really. The right will make the white move towards the right (away from the black). But in this shot, if I hit the cushion to the left of the red, and then have left hand side on the white, I'll miss the red altogether. The left side would "check" or "straighten" then white back up again and I wouldn't even make contact with the red. So not helpful in this situation.

Interesting how snooker players don't know these shots, but coming from the pool world, MOST players know these shots and their varients. This is why I love watching both pool and snooker! You learn so much more with both games.
@BartonSnooker
@BartonSnooker 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nate, Yeah I think it's more common in pool because the actual pot seems easier. But with snooker, players are scared to try certain things because the table is big and you haven't got much room for error. That's the only thing I think it can be. Pool players are very clever. Lots of table knowledge. Cheers, Steve 🙂
@SenseiNatePlaysPool
@SenseiNatePlaysPool 2 жыл бұрын
@@BartonSnooker 100% I agree. If you have the patience for it, watch some one pocket. Typically played with smaller pockets (though still nothing like snooker). One pocket is a game that really tests your table knowledge, banks, kicks, and finesse of the cueball. Potting balls in that game is almost always secondary unless you have a really clear shot. I've learned more from that game than anything else.
