Awesome episode. It's a little weird they keep trotting the Golden Lagoon out. A little funny they worked in non vac-metal parts so it can survive being a toy, and it gets knocked for it.

It just doesn't look right without it being entirely chromed. Though why can't they invent a plastic that has that kind if shine that doesn't require an extra coating???

@@NoirRaven Plastic itself can't be that metallically reflective. Plastic gets its color from additives and metalic colors come from adding metal. To get it perfectly chromed and not have it wear off of the joints to the point of hideousness, you would need to just make the whole thing out of golden metal. Also to get that shiny it would need to be polished, since it doesn't cast perfectly smooth.

You can't trademark something under a name that is just what that thing is - this is called a descriptive trademark. This is because if the trademark office let it through, then Hasbro would own the rights to "toys named Bumblebee that are bees", and could try to sue anyone putting out a toy based on a bee that uses the word "bumblebee" in its packaging or marketing. Which is, obviously, not a great outcome. Conversely, it's okay for them to own a trademark on "toys named Bumblebee that are robots that turn into yellow cars", because in that case, anyone else putting out a yellow robot car named Bumblebee is clearly ripping them off.

I couldn’t agree more. I’m so glad more toy reviewers are calling it out. We are oversaturated in 80’s nostalgia. I was born in 81 so I do love me some sweet, sweet throwback nostalgic magic. And most of it has worked on me. But it’s starting to get as cringe as it was in Ready Player One. Where you weren’t “cool” if you weren’t an 80’s fanboy even if you were born in 2010... Like you said, nostalgia is fine but we could use a little more subtlety and finesse. Pretty soon they’re just going to start putting everything in the same type of box labeled *”More 80’ Stuff”*.
