Wow, I've never seen this before! Simply stunning all around -- Twyla's choreo, the Sinatra classics, a brilliant partner in Elaine Kudo, and of course, the wildly talented Mr. Baryshnikov. His dance technique is astonishingly, extravagantly, just bloody flipping fantastic, but his acting here shouldn't be overlooked. He really sells it on all levels, a timeless artist.

Here, Baryshnikov is dancing Twyla Tharp’s Nine Sinatra Songs, which originally premiered in 1982. While it seems like ballet’s opposite, Tharp’s technique requires a strong core and articulation of the feet. This grounds the body to be able to move expansively through space and command changes of direction. From what we can see, Baryshnikov is a true artist who can can mold to any choreographer’s work.

This looks like what he performed when I saw him in my town around this time. It was so different from when I saw him as a kid and he did his incredible spins. I will never forget that memory. A beautiful man, a beyond beautiful dancer. We are lucky to get to watch him. Thanks for the upload.

This is why Mikhail left Russia, so he could progress and grow as a dancer and artist in all venues. The soviet produces great classical dancers but anything beyond that , no contemporary, new new works, he had the freedom to grow in amazing works of dance and this is just another outstanding performance between two great dancers 👏 4:28
