BAS ASR light repair Mercedes-Benz SLK 230 -99

BAS ASR light was on because of broken brake light switch.
Edited at July 7 2020: removed part where switch lever is shortened as it has automatic adjustment, it ratches in when installed.

Kiitos Janne hyvistä ohjeista. Kytkin on mahdollista vaihtaa myös ilman että ottaa irti koko alapaneelia. Riittää että ottaa mustan paneelin polkimien ympäriltä pois, toki näin tilaa on hieman vähemmän työskennellä ja näkyvyys osaan on heikompi. Otin itse kuvan liittimen sijainnista ja käsituntumalla irroitin ja kiinnitin sen.

I bought W202 (C model) switch and it was identical with old one.

@@johneriksson6450 From local car parts store. Their computer system does not know R170 but many parts are same with W202.

Hello. my 99 slk230 abs/asr light is on. I had hand brake adjusted 6 days before ...any relation to problem maybe? Thanks for the post. Nice and to the point. Roger

@@zJanneKz follow up: changed out brakelight switch and abs/asr light still on. Car has no codes, fuse is good. do I need to "reset/program CPU? Thanks

@@TheRogermursick In that case it becames complicated. Your ABS or ASR module may be broken. I've heard light switch module can also cause it. Or you may have broken ABS sensor or wire. Or something else. Code reader that can read also ABS module codes should help or go to MB dealer for code reading. Check also that K40 relay module fuse 1 has 12V when power is switched on. That fuse powers ABS module.

Facelift model 2001-> has BAS/ESP light instead of BAS/ASR but AFAIK faulty brake light switch causes warning light also on that model. More common cause for BAS/ESP light is disconnected or drained battery. On that case light goes of by turning steering couple of time full left and right that resets steering angle sensor.

Ei tarvitse lyhentää, siinä on automaattisäätö. Kun laitetaan kytkin paikoilleen, se rusahtaa oikean mittaiseksi.
