Bas Rutten was a great fighter and a gentleman. You can tell someone is an expert in their craft when they can give explanations in simple terms.

The definition of HOOK became much clearer to me when i actually started sparring. I had my guard up to block the hook but the hook still went THROUGH my guard like a thread and needle. I said "oh...they call it a hook because it hooks..."

You can defend it actively. Attack the opponents forearm. But it is good at bypassing the passive defense.

This was Igor Vovchanchyn's favorite KO punch. Overhand right hook (clothesline)

Always the best. Bringing old moves into new fashion. Next time THE STIFF LEG to the chest, after throwing someone into the ropes🤪

Any time someone throws a big overhand punch like that clothesline, cover up, step in off-line and make them pay for the attempt. The best defense for an indefensible shat like that is a good, aggressive offense. Step inside it.
