We are currently jumping from job to job at the moment, its not our preferred method, but delays in materials and delivery dates create a new need to work differently. In this video we insulate the floorboard it and erect the walls creating the openings for the doors and windows. hope you enjoy

I’d fix the sole plate for the stud walls direct to the timber ring beam, instead of having a material like Weyroc inbetween due to its compressibility & moisture movement issues. But like the look of the finished products in your videos.

You can tell who’s the gaffer and has to pay the bills and who’s on payroll. Nailing head and sole plate yourself. Anymore of that and I’d say their hands should be nailed into their pockets. Save them making the excuses

We build timber frames on a bigger scale but we also build small out buildings too and we ply on the floor , square on the panels and flush cut the windows out. Goes up square , level every time.

We’ve recently started doing this as the last few needed to be built and clad on the floor before standing up as they are so tight to the boundary. Your right, plum and square when stood up! Well be using this in the future as it’s quicker too

Love the build i want to build a garden room to incorporate a gym and Sauna 2 questions to get around the height restriction of 2.5 mtr i have a sloping garden 1. Can i dig down say 300 mm from the highest point then work from there to get my internal height of approx 2.3 As i want a gym would i need larger rods, plate washers and channel if so that's not a problem as i am a steel fabricator and can access materials.

Hi Peter. I’m currently building a garden gym and like you had a slope from my boundary fence to my lawn level. In my case it was 350mm and I dug down level to lawn. Essentially that’s given me a max height of 2850mm under permitted development. A word of warning - my gym is not going to be large, but the volume of soil I needed to shovel to level down to the lawn was insane! My back is still recovering several weeks later and the local skip company did well out of me. It’s very deceiving when initially eyeballing.

Just a quick question, where do you get the steel box section from as was going to used wood to span a 2400mm gap for Upvc french doors but think steel will be better? mike wells we get it from a steel stockholders in Leeds, probably over kill, but the roof isn’t going anywhere then, it’s a 160x80 hollow section, it’s not a stock item but they get it in the next day so must be readily available I guess,

Sorry if this question is dumb! Now you don't use firrings, but rather a higher front wall to get the pitch on the roof: is there no need to cut birds mouths due to the shallowness of the pitch? The way you plumb the walls is great, but I'm building my posh shed/motorcycle garage like this but on a concrete base and bolting the base plates to a brick course, what's my best bet to try square/plumb them - given I can't tack all those braces to the floor??? Hi mate your block and line method would have been better straightening the top of the walls after plumbing the corners and instead measure the thickness of the bottom plate at each corner , strike a chalk line and follow that . Apart from that good job mate.

Double batten if your doing vertical cladding. Can do single if the cladding is horizontal. It’s so water and moisture can travel out and not collect

Nope, we pitch the roof, internal and external, provides maximum head height internally and is only noticeable if tv is on side walls

Reason why I ask is you didn't space them exactly when putting them in. I could be wrong but if they aren't spaced inside perfectly, when you plumb the outside timbers, surely if they aren't spaced exact the rest won't be perfectly plumb.
