Love your videos. You've taught me so much! As a seamstress, I think I can help you with the hat. The top of the hat is a button. The 6 holes are called eyelets. These eyelet holes allow hot air to escape from the top of the hat. Hope that helps you. You have helped me so much!!

When you remove the excess fondant can it then be used for something else? Since it has Tylose in it can it be re-softened once it hardens. Hope that made sense.
@KarolynsKakes2 жыл бұрын
Yes! I reuse it all the time. I pop it in the microwave to soften it up again. There does come a point where it gets really hard (dries like a rock and doesn’t really get soft in the microwave). At that point, I throw it away.

That was so awesome to watch. I gained so much interesting information. Looks just like a real hat. Can't believe it's made of cake. When you bake the semi - circle cake do you use the adapter in the oven? The whole cake is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing and keep on caking 💜
@KarolynsKakes2 жыл бұрын
By the adapter, do you mean the ring underneath to prevent it from shifting? If so, then yes! I put that in the oven and set the sphere pan on top of it.

@KarolynsKakes3 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! I don’t like to post specific prices just because prices can vary so much depending on skill level and what area you are in. I may be able to charge more than someone in a rural area can, but I would not be able to charge as much as someone in a major city. So there are too many variables for me to post a price.

What’s your recipe for a big batch like that?

Hi Karolyn can I ask do you use a fan force over foe all your baking including cup cake I have tried fan force and no fan but my cakes just don’t look right. I a bit confused someone told me to use no fan for cupcake I’ve tried both and still not right dry frustrating. Thank in advance 💜from Australia
@KarolynsKakes2 жыл бұрын
I assume you mean the convection oven fan, correct? If so, I don't use it when I make these cakes. I only use it when I make my pound cakes, which are only made in a bundt pan. Other than that, I don't like using the fan.

How did you get the large dowel rod through the cake boards with out the cake getting squished by the pressure?
@KarolynsKakes Жыл бұрын
I sharpen one end in a pencil sharpener only used for dowels (never used for lead pencils). Then I hammer it through and the sharp end pokes a hole through the cake circles and the cake drum!

Karolyn could you not just have used the first piece of paper for the brim before cutting it down, instead of cutting the paper and then adding the piece back when you cut it out of fondant?
@KarolynsKakes2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I believe I explained that in the video (I can't remember where). But there is a reason I do it that way and I don't remember my reasoning! LOL I think it's because the curve isn't right if I just keep it the original size. But it may work for you!
