For the most part, Will is right when it comes to composite USA and BBCOR bats, but there are exceptions. There's a reason why the Rawlings glowstick is the most sought after bat in the LLWS and now, he is learning about the ICON in his later videos. Hey, Will, what's your thoughts on the ICON USA bat? It's got to be good if USA bats are little BBCOR bats.

Are there any actual velo tests of the glowstick vs expensive modern usabats? I have to think its mostly reputation, since if it was markedly better than a regular usabat it would have been decertified. I tend to think it just happened to have been the only good usa bat in the initial 2 years of the cert so compared to the garbage easton pumped out the first year it was legit

I got my Louisville Atlas a few months ago. Only been to the cages once, hit the field for first BP of the season today and hit my first home run ever in my life. I’ve been a contact hitter forever and *for me,* I cranked that ball about 360-370 to left center. The Atlas is no joke, it’s got more pop when connecting the sweetspot. So glad I took a chance on it… but it is so so ugly

I started highschool ball right when BBCOR came out. Wish we had the BBCOR bats now back then. Also wish I knew that I knew the composite wasn’t anywhere near as hot at the alloy. But standard kid thinking then after putting down my combat b2… composite must be the hottest thing ever… not the case 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@Mikehonchotheponcho 5150 is alloy so I didn’t use it plus it was more of a contact hitters bat to me. All through highschool I swung a 34/31 xl1 then switched to the xl3 way later. Tried some other composite bats and they mostly all were subpar. Other than the first S2 or XL3 or voodoo black. BBCOR in its first few years just killed the game a bit for a while

Try to find a Marucci Cypress on sale. There are usually some out there that will be $199 or less. Well worth it over the Oxbow. Oxbow is ok, but if you are older it won't last very long as it is full-grain cowhide vs steerhide leather in the Cypress. It's like an A1000 vs A2000 from Wilson.

USA Standard is definitely the least favorite regulation. The balance of the game changes at this level. Outfielders and pitchers love it though For you, the exit velocity is lower in USA because they are more balanced. ADV Hype drop 5 is more endloaded than a bbcor Victus Vandal, but with your strength, the MOI lost is more detrimental than the bat speed gained. For a kid, they need that increase in balance The BBCOR regulation also regulates mishit BBCOR for abi composite bats A drop 5 alloy shouldn't have any more dents than a bbcor. Usually they have the same shell, just with a restriction mechanism in the BBCOR. Many leagues do allow BESR bats in USSSA, and if you listen to the hoop frequencies, they're very similar because like usssa drop 5, besr bats and bbcor use similar bat shells. I'd argue that you personally would do better with a BESR bat than a USSSA drop 5 because of the extra MOI My latest study has been on how USSSA bats for alloys has changed over the years. Many older USSSA alloys are much hotter than newer ones because of cost cutting. The whole USSSA regulation itself comes from the late 90s era. Back then, senior league ms would use drop 8 bats which were thinner walled than the drop 5s
