No matter how many movies or interviews or documentaries they make about this, nothing will compare a hot summer night in the bronx at Yankee stadium when the Sox or Mets are in town.

I remember watching this game. I was 10 years old, and me and my dad were able to catch the game at the 7th inning after we went out to an amusement park. It is one of my favorite Yankee memories. Watching this recap got me so excited. They just don’t play with this much heart anymore

I am indulging this memory tonight. I was there, at the game. We sat in the upper deck behind home plate. I remember Jeter running into the stands from that third deck perspective. I remember the energy. I was 15, and it was 17 years ago, but that night is one of my most vivid memories.

What are you, blind? Reese's play was a better catch, right at the wall in foul territory. While Jeter's catch was a good play, it wouldn't be remembered if he didn't dive into the stands after he made the catch, when the ball was in fair territory. Just another benefit of playing in NYC.

THIS was when the rivalry was second to none--EVERY game was BLOOD AND GUTS--so many unforgettable moments!! I was at the 1999 classic between Pedro and Roger Clemens-- an EPIC duel they put on the Sunday night before Memorial Day. Might be the greatest regular season game I ever saw!! (But SO MANY of the Yankees-Red Sox games in those years were like that--BLOOD AND GUTS!!)

I'm sorry, but that play by Alex Rodriguez at the 8:59 mark of this video does not get nearly the credit that it deserves. Yes, it's overshadowed by Jeter's great catch and dive into the stands, but that was an unbelievable play that A-Rod made. The diving stop was good enough, but tagging the bag showed phenomenal baseball instincts, and the throw was incredible. Say what you want about the guy, but he was such a great talent.

This was one of the WORST seasons to be a Yankee fan. To be up 3 games to 0 in the playoffs and then to loose 4 in a row was something I thought I would never see. They suck the last 7 seasons and it is so hard to be a Yankee fan. 20 years on and they still can't score a run when they have a guy at 3rd with no outs. Somethings never change.

This was the final game of a 3 game series, as the Yankees swept a great Red Sox team. Then the Yankees went to Shea Stadium to play 3 games at the Mets, and the Yankees got swept by a bad (but growing) Mets team.

Great game, but I can't enjoy it because of what happens in the playoffs. The Red Sox lost the battle, but won the war that year and it still stings after all these years. I can't even enjoy Boone's homerun the year before, because I know the Yankees not only lose the WS, but get bested the next year.

@@starlinpena4943 no pitching at all. They lost Clemens, Pettitte, and Wells. El Duque was burnt out at the end of the season. Kevjn Brown and Javier Vasquez started 04 great but then sucked second half. Their best pitcher down the stretch was actually Jon Lieber. He pitched a solid game 2 of the ALCS and even game 6 he pitched decent enough. But there was no bullpen besides Mo. But even he blew one of the biggest games. No lefties. No chance. Being up 3-0 was too good to be true. And it actually was lol

@@sandman4115 all i remember was vasquez giving up honers every single start Yanks should of tried harder to keep pettitte and clemens cuz our pitching was trash
@sandman41152 жыл бұрын
@@starlinpena4943 easy to say that. But everyone thought Clemens was retiring after 2003. Last minute he changed his mind. And with Pettitte, I remember him saying he wanted to be close to home in Houston BUT he also thought yanks weren’t interested in resigning him. Also his 04 season was cut short due to a torn flexor tendon. So even if we resigned him, he could of been hurt halfway through the season. And with David Wells, he had a solid 04 for the padres. But in the 03 postseason, he started having back issues and with him turning 41 in 04, i can see why the yanks didnt resign him either. It was a winless situation for the yanks. Probably why they loaded up on the offense
