Javy would do insane plays like that all the time and somehow they worked. That's why we called him El Mago. In the 2018 Wild Card game, he hugged Nolan Arenado to prevent him from completing a double play. All Arenado had to do was attempt to make the throw and Javy would have been called on interference. @@DionysusAlS The 2018 team was not competitive, as they still finished under .500. That three year stretch of playoff appearances are also the only winning seasons they've had in the last 30 years, and they still didn't get so much as an NL Pennant out of it. Lonnie Smith didn't get tricked. He lost the ball and didn't know if he could make it to third. You can see in the clip that he's not looking at the second baseman and doesn't stop when the "trick" happens, but after he looks into the outfield. Lonnie has addressed this and there's even a _Pretty Good_ episode about Lonnie Smith where Jon Bois talks about it.
@eddiez1247
@eddiez1247 Жыл бұрын
The Pretty Good episode actually suggests that Lonnie did it on purpose to throw the game to spite of the GM of the Braves at the time. John Schuerholz. He was the GM of the Royals during the mid 80's free agent collusion scandal. Lonnie took that hard and planned to murder him for ruining his career. Did you watch the video?

10:55 - "Uniform Decisions" is NOT a stupid thing which happened in baseball. The US Army Golden Knights parachute team does MANY special promotions such as that. They know perfectly well how to get clear airspace for their events. It was 100% their fault, for not informing the proper authorities. If they DID notify the proper authorities, then it was someone else, up the chain, who "dropped the ball." This was entirely a military and law enforcement matter. The team was NOT involved.

Maybe it doesn't count since it was between games, but Disco Demolition Night in Chicago is one of my favorites. The White Sox did a promotion in 1979 between two games of a double header where they blew up a bunch of disco records in center field to metaphorically kill disco music. The explosion (and hundreds of rowdy fans who stormed the field immediately after it) damaged the field and forced the Sox to forfeit game 2 of the double header.

I also worked even security for the AAC in Dallas. We were told to NEVER light up somebody unless they were about to injure someone else - ESPECIALLY a player. The thing is, we had things pretty much under control so that it would be difficult for someone to gain access to the floor for basketball, the ice (IMPOSSIBLE) for hockey and the stage (also IMPOSSIBLE) at a concert. At the Ballpark, it was easier to gain access to the field but there were sufficient security and APD officers to make any incursion short lived. I had to attend an alcohol education class as a teenager. well, unbeknownst to us in the class the teacher had a breathalyzer with him that we had to blow into and one girl actually came to the class drunk af. She wouldn’t take the test and when it was her turn she just started balling and ran out of the classroom. I felt so bad for her but coming to a state ordered alcohol education class absolutely sloshed is such a terrible decision. My guess is she was physically addicted 😬

I have to be honest, I've never quite gotten baseball, nor do I super like it. It's fun to watch in, like, the last 2 or 3 innings, but I've never had an interest in it. But this channel makes it so fun to listen to, and the editing and presentation is so stylish, I watch it anyways.

What I absolutely love about this channel is that not only does he talk about incredibly interesting baseball stories and topics, but that he actually has really good sponsors. Most sponsors nowadays are for raid shadow legends, anime games, or some form of gambling. These sponsors are honestly great! The one about owning land in Scotland and legally becoming a lord, seat geek, these special ear pieces, and almost every other one. Keep up the fantastic work!!!!!

Excellent video as always. The content is great, it's well-researched and the editing is second to none. Disco Demolition and Ten-cent-beer nights too were good in terms of marketing to get fans to the game, but they finished badly so in the end they were pretty dumb. Fun fact about the Marlins 2010 Vuzuelza promotion. Pro players in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan are more used to constant sound due to cheering sections cheering usually during the 9 whole innings. MLB usually doesn't have cheering sections with full bands playing music when teams are playing.

I’m really surprised the play that’s not on here was where Juan Segura stole second, then on the next batter started running to 3rd, ran back and ended up standing on 2nd with the runner behind him, thought he was out and started going back to the dugout only to realize he was still safe, so he “tagged up” (?) at 1st. On the next play, he got caught stealing 2nd…a base he had already stolen earlier that inning.

I was legit just saying that to my girl. I'm like "when's the lead officially buried? " he didn't just do it once, he did it the whole video..."this is the dumbest play, but not compared to this... but this play isn't even close to bad as this! Which is nothing compared to this last clip! But if you want a REALLY dumb play... it's this next one... but that still doesn't top this!...." holy hell dude, use that line once maybe twice to build suspense. You can't use it for the entirety of a 20 min video. I think I almost ejaculated 7 or 12 times
