A few years back, there was a game in Texas at the Ballpark, the Rangers were up to bat, and the scoreboard announced that the Dallas Stars had won a playoff game or something. The visiting pitcher freaked out when the stadium erupted. I don't remember who won, but I remember that. Another time, the Rangers hit so many home runs that they ran out of fireworks.

@jamisonlehl37773 жыл бұрын
I think any intent is intent, makes it so it's not a judgement call. But I feel it needs to be made in fair territory
@russellv62343 жыл бұрын
That's a textbook correct call. even twitching your shoulders towards 2nd is enough. Like a balk, its a technical call and it was correct.
@xapie1282 жыл бұрын
I agree. I was always under the impression that if you turned toward your left (i.e. toward 2nd) even if you went back to 1st base, then that could be "intent" but in this case the runner turned to his right (toward the stands) which to me showed no "intent" of wanting to go to 2nd.
@Runningforlife23 жыл бұрын
Can you make a video of robbing home runs?

3:07 is a heads up tag and a good call by the umpire. If the runner shows any intention to head towards 2nd then they forfeit any protection allowed by overrunning 1st.

Wonder how ridiculously early or late a batter can swing at a ball and still have it count as a strike.
@thomasrovnak3124 жыл бұрын
Early: as long as the pitch is in the air it's a strike. Batters can swing as much as they like before then, you see this all the time in the warmup swings. So the answer is the second the ball leaves the pitcher's hand (assuming its a legal pitch) the swing can be called a strike. Late: This one is harder and more subjective. Basically, any legal pitch can be called a strike. So a mere swing wouldn't be a strike if the umpire ruled he wasn't actually trying to strike at the ball. In practice if the pitch is far enough away for it to be considered as having gotten away from the catcher, then that's too late. So the answer is basically when the batter reasonably couldn't have a chance to hit the ball then its not a strike.
@KoolKive4 жыл бұрын
seeing him get pushed at 8:56 made me laugh
@firebirdude24 жыл бұрын
5:18 Was that ultimately ruled a run scored? The ref wasn't involved in the throw, the batter was in the box, I see no reason that's not the same as missing a catch/wild pitch.

firebirdude2, There was no reason to call time, the ball should have stayed live and the run should have scored
