Basecamp 2 - Finding the perfect Pitch

In the this VLog, I reflect on the two years we have been continuously using our Basecamp 2 and share my thoughts on the Pitches we like to book and the ones we avoid. This covers the offer from the Caravan & Motorhome Club, CL Network and the Independent parks.

Another excellent vlog Nick that aerial shot of Invercoe with the Pap and Glencoe in the background is stunning. I also prefer fully serviced pitches but I don’t mind doing the daily yomp to get water and empty the grey waste. There is also the Camping and caravan club sites we are a member of both clubs. They have some excellent sites also. I do agree with the pitch allocation on club sites I’d prefer to get allocated my pitch turn up and set up. Watching your GlenNevis north Ledaig vlog at the moment lol I’m up at the GlenNevis site in September and Bunree. Might do a vlog 🤔😂

Bunree looks beautiful but for me I’d have to drive past invercoe to get there. Bunree is about 20 minutes up the road. Can’t wait to go back to Scotland.

That’s exactly what I said to the wife that’s why we are staying there on our way back to from GlenNevis it’s just a few miles down the road from it. It’s just a 2 night stop over to try it out for future adventures.

Very interesting to hear your assessment and future pitch preferences. Having had a couple of extremely enjoyable short breaks in the past year on two different CL’s (on the Gower & West Wales), like you I would have preference for those over the main CMHC sites going forward. I also love the Independent sites but might challenge is finding ones allowing more than 2 dogs per pitch! Looking forward to seeing where your next adventure takes you. Thanks for sharing 👍

Thanks for your comment. Our experience with the independent sites has been positive with special requests. For example, as independents generally allocate a pitch they may be able to work with you on the dogs by locating your somewhere quiet on site. We’ve had similar outcomes but relating to family.

I presented my thoughts on CMAC sites with context which on reflection could have been misinterpreted as applying to all the network. I have witnessed unwelcome behaviour on sites when finding a pitch which may have been unique to the sites I had visited only and therefore I took this out. In addition, I changed the words in my feedback on the award winning CL as the grammar I originally used could be misleading. The context of the video in these two areas is now more balanced whilst still capturing my thoughts and experiences.

Just wondering what is the total length of your Basecamp 2 plus awning ? Has this ever been an issue fitting onto a pitch?

Total length with the Vango RVA 2 is 8m. It’s not been an issue on any pitch on the mainland as that length is around the same as a standard double axel caravan so the pitch’s are long enough👍🏻

Yes. I have rewritten part of the script following some ‘constructive’ feedback which on reflection was valid in places. I’m still sharing the same thoughts and experiences but with more balance and context.

@@FlyCampCaravanNorthWales Having watched both the original and the edited version, I'd say that your original version was just fine. You may have different opinions to other people, but you're entirely entitled to them!
