If it makes you feel better, he's using a sequencer and the Brap SY1. A used BeatStep Pro could probably do the sequencing at a fraction of the cost of a Varigate 8. All that other gear is just window dressing. Keep it simple. If anything, having so many choices lead to productivity destroying decision paralysis. People are doing amazing work with just a sequencer and one or two software or hardware instruments. A creative chef can do more with a wok than most people can do with a 12-piece tri-ply clad cookware set.
