My mom once accused me of faking for attention after I sprained my ankle really bad and had to be carried by my English teacher to the office. She was super pissed I needed to go home because I couldn't walk, refused to take me to the ER... I had a tendon on the side of my foot rip 3/4ths of the way through. To this day, 20 odd years later, I have a bulge on the side of my foot where part of the tendon healed wrong.

Smart girl, I am glad you did not give up and saved your own life! I had an aunt only 40s, she said she doesnt feel good. Begged to family to hospital. Since they are having a toxic relationship, they preffered not believe her. Anyways, my uncle took her to hospital eventually, the stupid dr said she is lying. My uncle took her back to home mad at her. Nobody showed sympathy to her, she begged. The other aunt living next door, tried to give her something to eat, failed. She asked them to take her hospital in vain. Very next day, she died. After forty days passed, my uncle took his own life due to regret. This is the most heartbreaking and traumatic story in my life. Families with toxic relationships, no love, no sympathy, no empathy makes me sick.

Appendix? I missed what the problem was, but saw that she was holding her right side in the video. It's messed up when people don't take others seriously when there's a problem. I lost 18 years of my life, because I was not able to get the right pain medications to control CRPS pain and to stop it from getting out of control. It's literally the most painful chronic pain condition on the MaGill Pain Scale and is so painful they call it "suicide disease", but doctors are still torturing patients by refusing to prescribe them the necessary pain medications. (as not controlling the pain causes it to progress and to cause more damage to bone and tissues... which does not happen when the pain is controlled.)

I almost died of sepsis this past summer and have no transportation. My parents said I was being dramatic. Had to hobble myself a mile down the road trying not to puke my guts out and barely able to walk in 100+ weather. Doctor said I needed to go to the emergency room immediately, cousin drove me. I stepped on a sharp object as a teenager, in our yard that had a lot of scrap my dad used to collect and horde (planning projects that never came to fruition) and my parents refused to take me to the doctor even though I lost sensation and motor function in my lower leg. The foot became progressively more swollen and developed a throbbing pain so bad that I couldn't move it, I begged them after 3 days to take me to seek medical help because I was sure I would lose the foot (they called me dramatic). Turns out a sharp rusted nail fragment that went deep into the sole of my foot was still stuck there. It needed to be debrided (cut out with dead tissue removed) and I had to go on a long course of antibiotics and receive tetanus toxoid hella late. I don't hold it against them because they were not formally educated after high school but they still had the audacity to say 'in our day we used to step on shiz and move on with our lives ' made me so angry. I'm a doctor now, I've moved away from home and those bastards still don't listen to me🤣

Mom took friend to pizza place for after. I was left in hot car. I was outside car on ground trying to get cool. I wanted an ambulance. My mom thought I was being a sulky baby bc I was hot. She left me outside. Went inside to eat.

--- MY MEDICAL STORY --- So, when i was like 9 or 10, I was walking in the kitchen when all of a sudden I had a horrible pain in the left side of my stomach (i think some of you see where this is going). I was driven to the hospital and taken in. I couldn't eat anything as my body would just reject it. After a couple of days of pain, they determined that I had appendicitis after doing the x-ray. I went into surgery. BUT WAIT the story doesn't end here. After surgery, I said that I was still in pain and they said that was normal - until the pain didn't go away within a day or two. They did some tests and learnt 2 things. 1. I never had appendicitis 2. In the surgery, the surgeon messed up and put the knife through my bladder. Basically, if I didn't get treatment in like a week, I could die. Fun. I was transferred to a different hospital and got surgery there that stitchef my bladder back up. Though, it still wasn't great. Some of the tests basically were, lets pump liquid into his bladder until it leaks. yay fun, and painful! Overall, I was in hospital for 8 days I think but I needed another 2 or so months to fully recover. Luckily, I live in the UK so all of this was free. Fun fact - apparently the hospital stopped doing that type of surgery on children after but idk if that's true

Y’all above me really saying it’s okay to dismiss your in-pain child because it might be “for attention”… Well, would you rather give an attention seeker attention by mistake or would you rather your child die and you go to prison for child neglect? Sure is hard choice, these two options… EDIT: I see Volkova a ways below me would also rather let their child possibly die. Funny thing is, most people would go broke to save their child’s life, bro thought they did something with that comment. And if your child has to fake dying everyday to get your attention, maybe they’d be happier living at the hospital anyway.

Golly! My friend had his spleen rupture during class at the Uni. We were in class together and he looked okay at the start, but that day we were working in pairs for a presentation. Within the first 20 minutes of class (this is a 2+ hour seminar) He mentioned a pain on his side that initially was like a stomach ache and quickly evolved to something he couldn’t even sit down for. I had a bad feeling from the way he was shifting his body in his seat, and his expression. I told him at first, that he should use the restroom, then told him to head to the school’s medical facility. He just wasn’t feeling well. Finally I shut his laptop and told him to pack up, that we were going to Kaiser. (His provider) which was less then 10 minutes away. He kept insisting that he’d be fine. I packed up my own stuff and I dragged his butt out of class. On the way to my car, (I wasn’t gonna let him drive), I intercepted another friend from our study group. He didn’t have a class at the time. I caught him up to speed, and he offered to take our friend to the provider , so I can return to class and take notes or whatever for both of us. I let him take our friend, and in the group chat several hours later we learned that his spleen ruptured. He was home for the rest of the semester. :( he emailed his professors, and got the extended 1 year opportunity to finish those classes. As a study group, we took our notes, and forwarded him everything digitally and in person. We kept him up to speed and checked up on him. (He’s doing fine now! He recovered and graduated with us!)

God bless that doctor who saw me walk across his waiting room and asked my family to let him examine me completely for free. It was not growing pains. I had scoliosis. From 9 years old I spent 9 years in treatment and FULLY Recovered without surgery because of early detection. Thank you doctor. There were some points at school I collapsed cause of the pain so my mum knew it must b smth worse. I went to physio therapy for around a year and a half and idk what it was called but basically rather than having an arched foot, mine is flat so I got theses insoles to support my feet. I kept calling her telling her it was getting worse and worse. Once I finally ended up in the hospital, they couldn't figure out what was wrong, kept asking 10-year-old me if I was pregnant or could have an STD, aaaand I'm like, "no sir, I'm f-ing 10." Turned out my appendix had exploded several days prior and I was about to damn die lol. Two surgeries and a bunch of torment later (drinking that chalky CAT scan crap when your organs are all f-ed up and you're puking... basically impossible) - I'm all good now lol.

If it exploded you would’ve been dead. If it’s even swollen you’d be in excruciating pain. They take it out generally because of that. I think there’s some exaggeration there.
@zzevonplant
@zzevonplant Жыл бұрын
@@mikolee8522 I don't mean explode, like, the way a bomb explodes lol. Little bit of hyperbolic language - the actual term is rupture, it ruptured, so, it busted open and bacteria/pus/whatever was leaking into the rest of my body. That's sort of why I said I was about to die. Once it ruptures, you're in trouble if they don't do something quick. And I was in unbearable pain for days before they figured out what was happening. When I had to drink the CAT scan fluid, it showed it leaking out of the burst appendix. So, aside from my word choice of "exploded," I'm not exaggerating.
@zzevonplant
@zzevonplant Жыл бұрын
@@mikolee8522 Also, you can look this up, without medical care, once your appendix gets to the point where it's ruptured, you've got about a day or so to live if it's not dealt with. They don't know when mine actually ruptured, it could have been before I got there, could have been at the actual hospital, don't know. But, I'd been going downhill REALLY fast for the couple days prior to finally being taken to the ER, it was probably a total of like 3-4 days maybe of the pain, maaaybe 5, but it could really bad the last two days and I was vomiting constantly and just, immobilized with pain, whole body felt horrendous. It was very unpleasant and quite scary. But also, being about 10 years old, I didn't really understand how bad of shape I was actually in, which is probably good, because I would have panicked. If I was suffering that much as an adult, I'd have taken myself to the hospital a LOT sooner. The surgery nicked one of my ovaries because they had to do so much scraping around to get everything (because material had leaked out of course) and they had to do it open rather than laparoscopic for the same reason, I've got like 5 different scars, was in the hospital for weeks, ended up needing a second surgery b/c I developed an abscess after the surgery site healed too quickly on the outside or whatever, and was probably close to septic because my whole body was weak and ill from the infection getting so bad before they realized they needed to go back in and it wasn't just residual pain, blah blah blah. It was nuts. So, yeah, I used a colorful word, but still, that's what happened lol.

I dislocated some cartilage in my knee as a teen, but my dad told me to stop whining until it swelled up to the size of a balloon and my knee cap wouldn't go back into place.. When the school nurse saw it she said 'oh shit, you need to go to hospital' 🤦‍♀️

I was taken to a hospital at around 8 years old, I had a sharp pain in my belly. The “doctors” determined that it was appendicitis and I was being prepared for surgery. It was a hospital in Dominican Republic with many resident students, they were not actually clear to make that kind of decisions; thank God the senior Doctor came in and save the day, he touched my belly and check the papers and diagnosed me with an UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). I thought this story was about period, I got mine at 11 years old and since then is hell every time it comes.

I don't...get why people think that kids don't understand their bodies. Like. Bro. Growing up, my parents' response to "My tummy hurts" was "Do you feel sick, do you feel like somebody punched you, or does it hurt a different way?" because I waslike 5 and didn't understand things well, but I knew the difference between nausea and pain, and I could explain it.

My mom almost killed me once because she refused to call 911 when I was about to pass out from having a blood clot in my chest. She said that my anxiety would cause false symptoms. I was lucky I didn't die. I did not see a doctor until a week later and she told me what it was.

The way I knew was an old fashion way my Dad had taught when I had a bad stomach ache as teenager. He had me lay down on back with a pillow under my butt. He asked did it stop hurting . I said yes. Good he said it just gas or an upset stomach. As he helped me up I instant threw up. Later asked him what if it hadn't stopped he told me if the pain had gotten worse or run down my right leg it could have been my appendix and would have taken me to the hospital.THANK YOU DAD FOR ALL YOU DID FOR ME . My foster mother was in her 50’s when I got into my teen years and she was the same way. She didn’t believe in doctors or vaccines ect. One day I noticed a sharp pain growing that didn’t go away and got worse. The pain spread from one side to my entire abdomen. I had no idea what was going on and I felt like I was dying and she completely ignored me and dismissed my screams of pain saying I was just being dramatic... I called 911 myself and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance with a severe case of appendicitis. If I hadn’t made that call, my appendix would have ruptured and become fatal. I was taken from her custody shortly after. I am now a mother and will never forget what I went through and will never ignore my child when he expresses discomfort or pain.

My mom's thought that I was just faking it for her to carry me (bcz back then, I always loved it when she was carrying me on her back). The day she believed me was the day I was getting an emergency surgery because I burned myself accidentally (it was bad) with hot oil, and I remember I told the doctor to check my right leg. Turns out I've got a disease since I was born (the name is too complicated), and if I wasn't operated earlier I would lose my leg, being disabled or in the worst case die. I was struggling to breathe after I had my son, with a sharp pain that'd come randomly. At a point it felt like there was an Elephant sitting on my chest. I went to my local hospital, where they incorrectly diagnosed me with pneumonia, came back in the room a second time and changed the diagnosis to a different type of infection of the lungs, and sent me home with strong ibuprofen for pain and NO antibiotics at all. I knew there was something seriously wrong with me. The pain had became so distinct and unbearable in my back, chest and my upper left arm. I'd never felt it before but I could describe it as a deep pain in the veins of my left shoulder. I went in like 8 hours for a second opinion. I could barely breathe anymore and my Fiancé rushed me to the hospital the next city over. Within an hour, they told me I had a Pulmonary Embolism (clogged artery in the lung). I would have died if I had waited any longer. TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS. YOU KNOW YOUR BODY BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE!

There is literally a blood test that shows if you are making and breaking up clots. Easy test! Second you had every symptom of a female heart attack also rare but happens after giving birth. Not including other life threatening events. I’m glad you got the care you needed. Always remember you know your body. They don’t know you! They are caring for some really sick people and may have their mind elsewhere and they make mistakes they are human. Advocate for yourself. Make them listen ! If they don’t go to your next hospital!
