Thank you for this video. Saved me from having to get a separate amp as I had an older receiver kicking around. At first I thought that I’d messed up the install as I noticed no response from the bass shakers until I noticed in one of you comment replies that perhaps I had the volume on the secondary receiver too low. Once I turned it up to about 80 I was golden. Thanks again and love your set up!

I have 4 of them in my 3 seater sofa. I just watched The Batman. It enhanced the movie so much. It's driven by the Dayton Audio BSA 200. I really recommend for those who can't have cinema level subwoofer levels. And for those to do, it is a nice to have but not essential. As I have a living room and no chance of a svs subwoofer in my future this worked a treat.

I don't have any filters on mine because it's getting it's source from my subwoofer output #2. Therefore it's only getting the LFE signal from the AVR and passing that signal to the shakers. I'm sure you could set it up however you want depending on your preference though!

Hi there, great review! just want to make sure I'm understanding this right, you took the extra LFE out Chanel from the Denon then split it into an analog L and R signal for the Onkyo and plugged it in as a source to it. Then run them as full rage so it can play the low frequencies? just want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly, thank you!
@TyEichele
@TyEichele 2 жыл бұрын
That's correct - since the output is from the Sub 2 output it's only sending the LFE frequencies to the input of the Onkyo, which amplifies the signal and powers the shakers. I haven't had a chance to see if I can control the crossover of the Sub 2 output seleratly from the Sub 1 output, so right now I'm assuming it's sending 120hz and below to the Onkyo, which is what the LFE crossover is set at in the Denon. Hope this helps make sense. You were absolutely correct though. Thanks for watching!

@TyEichele
@TyEichele Жыл бұрын
Do you have multiple Sub outputs? If so, use 1 of them for your subwoofers and one for the shaker system like I did. If not, you could use a splitter or Y adapter to send one signal to the shaker amp and the other signal to your subwoofers. Hope that makes sense and helps. Good luck!

Very well simple explanation and amazing setup. One question, I have a Denon with 2 subs out which I have connected 4 subs total using 2 Y splitters. How can I connect 4 bass shakers?
@TyEichele
@TyEichele 2 жыл бұрын
I would move the 2 Y splitters to Sub output 1 and control all of my subwoofers with that single sub output. It shouldn't matter how many times you split that signal. Are you using a miniDSP? That would give you 4 subwoofer outputs and only use 1 single input so you wouldn't have to use any splitters at all, plus it gives you the option to now time align and EQ your subs to your room, which is a huge benefit. See my other videos for how that all works. Then you can use subwoofer output 2 specifically for your bass shaker setup and control them independently.

hey great video.. quick question. I'm confused how to set up multiple shakers. I have a dedicated amp with 4ohm currently connected to one shaker. But i want to add another one. Do i need to change the amp to 8ohm? each shaker is also 4ohm
@TyEichele
@TyEichele 5 ай бұрын
You change the Ohms by how they are wired. Do a google search for wiring diagrams and it will show you how to wire them up properly so you have the correct ohms going to each shaker. I have 2 shakers on each 'channel' coming from the 8 ohm amp so that each shaker receives 4 ohms, for example.

Hi, i started somewhat similar like you, but have to say with LFE @ 120HZ (Why so high) it would really bother me that u can feel the shakers that much. Guides say to cut it at 40HZ, i have it at 55HZ but use a DSP to (now i don´t know if the translation is correct) make the edge steepness steeper. This makes the effect more abrupt and powerfull. If you dont alter the edge steepness, even if you cut at 80HZ you can still feel sounds at about 120HZ, which often occurs in music.

I think it's all personal preference really! Some people like more some people like less. That's the cool thing about them is you can really dial them in for what you enjoy personally! I don't have any more outputs on my minidsp 2x4 hd since all 4 outputs are going to my sub system, and I had the sub 2 output on my Denon to use so that's what I settled on. I enjoy them the way they are. I could probably alter the HZ in the receiver that powers the shakers if I really wanted too, and maybe I'll try that sometime just to compare the difference. Thanks for the suggestion!

@TyEichele
@TyEichele 2 жыл бұрын
I would put the two SVS subs together on 1 sub output using a Y-connector (splitter). Then you'll have sub 2 for the bass shakers. Another option is looking into a MiniDSP so you can further calibrate you sub system. See my other videos for how to do that! Thanks for watching!
@ProjectSOG
@ProjectSOG 2 жыл бұрын
@@TyEichele that's what I was thinking. My only fear is that when recalibrating Audessey because they would be connected to the same pre out and not independently it may not calibrate them properly. What do you think?
@TyEichele
@TyEichele 2 жыл бұрын
@@ProjectSOG I see what your concern is, yes. Just another reason why a MiniDSP would solve the issue. 😉 There are a lot of factors here, but either way if they are both on Sub 1 Audyssey won't know if you have 1 sub or 20 - it'll take the output it gets and make adjustments. The best thing you can do to help Audyssey out is with the MiniDSP and getting them time aligned to each other and EQ'd, but if you don't go that way then I'd try to get them both at the same SPL at your main listening position using their built in gain/volume control, then running Audyssey afterwards. Then don't touch the gain/volume on them anymore. Control the sub volume using the AVR Subwoofer Output, trying to keep it in the negative range so the AVR doesn't have to work as hard. Hope this helps and makes sense! Good luck

Hey Ty, love the video. Have a question for you, I have a 7.2 receiver with that second dedicated LFE to a sub. I disconnected the line to my second sub and used a y-connector to an old 5.1 receiver, like you did. My tactile transducers are 8ohms a piece (unlike yours), so I only connected one transducer to each of the left and right mains separately. I'm not getting anything from my transducers, I even tried a different older analog 2-ch receiver. The pucks DO work as I tested them with a direct connection to my main receiver. Thanks in advance
@TyEichele
@TyEichele Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. This is a just a trail and error type of situation. I know on my Onkyo receiver that controls my shakers I have to have the volume pretty high - typically around 70 out of 100 I believe is the max. But you also have to double check that the signal is coming into the old receiver properly, and then getting pushed out properly. Mine has a 'direct' function so it passes the signal straight through and doesn't try to change anything as far as surround modes or anything else that could mess with the signal. Stick with the mains channels for sure, don't use a center or surround channel. Maybe you can hook up an actual speaker to make sure the signal is coming through for testing purposes? Lots of possibilities here, just have to start testing and narrowing it down. Good luck I'm sure you'll figure it out!

Great video and explanation. I have the same set of Aura bass shakers, but are currently not wired as I relocated my setup. Some comments: The outputs of the Onkyo to the bass shakers may not be the same for all 3 channels all the time if the DSP setting on the Onkyo is set to Pro-logic or some other mode that simulates a 5 channel mode source, and putting it in direct mode will output only to the L and R channels. A concern however in connecting 2 x 8 ohm loads on the same channel, and doing an A+B typically will do a parallel of them, presenting a 4 ohm load to that single channel. Not sure if your Onkyo is stable to drive these low an impedance of a speaker load. Are you able to distinguish the difference with or without the shakers, considering you have those big infinite baffle subs "massaging" your back? :) Great setup! More power.
@TyEichele
@TyEichele Жыл бұрын
Hello! Thanks for watching and for your comments. As far as the Onkyo goes - If you go to my video at the 9 min mark it explains how I have the 3 runs of speaker cable. I intiially had it set to L R and Center channels, but like you mentioned, the Center channel output was't receiving the same output as the R and L channels. So what I ended up with was running the outputs on the L channel on speakers B and the L and R channels on speakers A. Then the Onkyo is selected to Direct so that there is no DSP interference, and I select both speaker outputs A and B and it passes the same signal to all 3 outputs now. I have used my Ohm meter (not shown in the video) and confirmed this works! And yes, there is a very noticeable difference with them on! They are great! And yes, more power to the infinite baffle is in the plans for future upgrades, stay tuned!

@TyEichele
@TyEichele 7 ай бұрын
It sounds like you sure could. Just make sure you match the correct OHM rating of the shakers to the receiver. That happens during the wiring part. Google a correct wiring diagram. And make sure the receiver powering the shakers, if it's a secondary receiver from the main receiver, is set to 'direct' or is in a pass-through phase so it doesn't mess or change anything with the bass signal it is getting from the main receiver. Hope that helps!

along same lines. I have a DENON AVR with 2 SUBWOOFER PREOUTS (1 and 2, Both mono RCA). my actual SUBWOOFER speaker is connected to SUB PREOUT 1. I am looking to connect a 100 W Sub-Amp and 2 50W 4 ohm shakers to the Denon AVR SUB PREOUT 2 rather than a 2nd RCVR like you did. most the sub-amps have a set of L/R RCA jacks for the audio IN. @@DIgiHoolligan Pretty sure you'll need a Y cable to split that signal into your subwoofer amp in order for it to work correctly. Unless one of the L or R inputs are labeled Mono, meaning it accepts a single signal, you'll more than likely need both of them connected in order for the amp to work.

I knew my used Onkyo receiver out out 100 watts per channel. So with 2 shakers in each channel they share that 100 watts, so they each get 50 watts of power which is what they are rated for. They are also 4 ohm's each, but wired together I get an 8 ohm load at the receiver, which is what the receiver is rated at also! Just do your research and you'll be good to go!

Great video. What did you set your crossover at on your Onkyo?
@TyEichele
@TyEichele 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I did not set anything up in the Onkyo because it is set to pass the incoming signal straight through to the shakers without changing anything at all. So the original source is coming from the Sub 2 output on the Denon, which has the LFE channel set at 120 hz. Hopefully that makes sense!

Yet another great video. Correct me. Il use my spare sub out 2 from my main arv. Use a splitter and pug to my second avr to any input eg Il want to use cd in. Than connect my bass shakers to front L and R??. For the speakers to play full range can I use pure direct mode which will only enable L&R? Il have 4 bass shakers but connect in series so it's 8 ohms. Is this correct?

@TyEichele
@TyEichele 2 жыл бұрын
This sounds correct yes - just re-watch the video where I go through all the connections. The second receiver or avr you are using will only be getting the LFE signals since the splitter is plugged into Sub 2 output. So you don't want to change that signal so using a Pure or Direct mode will not change that LFE signal from the AVR source. So hooking up your 4 bass shakers to the L and R channel in 8 Ohms (make sure that your shakers are 8 ohm!) on those 2 channels is perfect. Good luck - and thanks for watching!

I turned my trim and distance setting to 0 or as close to it as I could on my main Denon AVR. Then on the receiver that is controlling the shakers, you can set the volume to wherever you enjoy them the most! Some movies I have to turn them down a bit because they are too much, others I have to turn them up more to enjoy them. It's totally up to you!

Hello and thanks for watching. The second receiver is acting only as an amplifier for the bass shakers. It gets it signal from sub out #2 and only amplifies the signal and powers all six bass shakers. The Denon handles all the other speakers in the whole system.

Have you found that these devices don't have a low enough frequency range? You said you bought a second amplifier for these, what was the channel wattage? If you said it, I missed it. I take it this system is louder than the one in high school? I've been considering getting some, but haven't figured all the logistics for it out yet with my setup.

Hey there! I don't have any issue with a low enough frequency range, as these aren't 'heard' but felt. I let my subwoofer system ( 2 12's, and 4 18's) handle the low frequencies. These just add a new level of feeling or dimension to the system, which is awesome! The second amplifier powers all 6 of them at 50 watts each across 3 channels. And yes, this system is much louder, but I don't listen to music on it much. Mostly just for movies. Good to hear from you - hope you are doing well! 👍

Because I don't want to sacrifice any of my subwoofer outputs is there any chance to be able I connect my centre pre out from yamaha RX A2080 to any channel in of my Sony receiver and follow the same procedure as you did. Should be this ok? I believe that preout sends only signal.

Try it and see what happens! In my mind it'll either work or it won't....depending on how that receiver is set up. Some receivers you have to change the settings in the menus to get the pre-outs to work. Can you install a splitter to your 2 subs on sub out 1 and use sub out #2 to the shakers?

Yes, you don't want the secondary receivers adjusting the bass signal from the Denon. Its only purpose is to amplify the signal to power the shakers. On my Onkyo I have a 'Direct' setting which simply passes the signal straight through and does not adjust it with any type of EQ or anything at all. That's how I have mine set up. You can always try it out and see what you like, it's not necessarily wrong.

Ty, thanks for the video. I am much smarter from having watched... but perhaps not yet smart enough :) I have a few questions that I hope you clarify further for me!! Thanks 1. I wanted to confirm what I am seeing in your video from 6:42-6:50 which is connecting the 2 bass shakers to one another (daisy chaining?) and running one line back to the amp. You are running speaker wire from the positive of your wall outlet to the positive of the 1st shaker, then running a separate jump from the negative of shaker 1 to the positive of shaker 2. Then you are running another separate wire from the negative of shaker 2 to the negative in your "outlet" Is that the correct configuration? 2. I think you are connecting 3 sets of 2 shakers and was wondering if you had wanted to add a 3rd shaker to that configuration (2 sets of 3 shakers for example) what would that look like? 3. My 2nd receiver/amp (Pioneer vsx45) has 2 RCA subwoofer outs. Until I saw your video, I thought I had to figure out how to connect the shakers to that output. Can I still do that? better? worse? unnecessary? if doable, can you tell me how I would take the positive and negative returns from the shakers and connect to the single RCA out?
@TyEichele
@TyEichele Жыл бұрын
Go to 5 min 17 sec in the video and you will see the wiring diagram I followed. You can wire various amounts of speakers in various ways, you just have to make sure you are staying in the same OHM rating for the speaker and amplifier. By following this diagram I connected two 4-ohm shakers together to create a single 8 ohm load, which is what my amplifier is. So use the appropriate wiring diagram for your application depending on what you are trying to accomplish. You can google wiring diagrams to find all sorts of options like the one I used. The speaker wires from my connection block go to speaker outputs on the back of the powering receiver. My main Denon uses a single RCA sub output #2 to send the signal to the Onkyo which powers the bass shakers. You can't connect speaker wire to RCA. In fact you won't use the subwoofer RCA outputs at all on your second receiver if that's the one powering your bass shakers.

Awesome setup . Became a subscriber a few months ago. I purchased those same exact RCA's about 2 years ago. I found that the ones I had, had a voltage drop of almost 1 volt. No biggie because I corrected the problem with a line driver. Secondly, how are you liking the stereo integrity ht3's?

I found the drop by playing a test tone then measuring the RCA'S accordingly. Measuring the input voltage then the output. In that case I was trying to keep a certain voltage throughout the signal (5 volts) at my amps for my car audio setup. I've been seriously considering the ht3's for some time, and for $200 a pop, it's a steal

@TyEichele 2 жыл бұрын
@@rindershow212 If I understand correctly, you have the Sub output 2 at 40 hz on your AVR, so that is only sending a 40 hz signal to your plate amp that powers the shakers. I would put the plate amp at the highest crossover setting yes if you plan on controlling the crossover point from your AVR. You could also do it the opposite way as well, so if you have other subwoofers on Sub Output 1, you can send them full range at a 120 hz crossover, but then turn down your plate amp to 40-60 hz for example to power the shakers. I'm sending the full range of 120 hz to my shakers, and have no issues with it. You can totally customize it to your liking. Try it at a few different crossover points and see what you like the best and run with it!

@petermuwanula7142
@petermuwanula7142 3 ай бұрын
I would not think so. It would possible if the soundbar had an LFE output. The LFE output then would also allow u to set the frequency response to 80hz or 60hz which is needed for the shakers which should activate when the bass is really low. U should not be sending high frequencies to the shaker. They will get damaged. I highly doubt soundbars have this output so the answer to you question is unfortunately “No” 😢
