@@systemSkynet When you're in a stately manor, you have to have a schedule; you can't have people eating as they like, or it'd be chaos in the kitchen, and the crockery/cutlery would keep disappearing. The schedule was roughly; early morning tea, breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea (high tea), dinner, supper. The times of all those would be "standing orders". We had breakfast, dinner and tea at home, but lunch at school. I think supper was to soak up some of the alcohol. For me it's usually my main meal - because I haven't eaten anything all day, so I better had. It's nearly midnight ... What shall I have? First, Iv'e got to find out what kedgeree is.

@@Addam1978 I've a cool fact that you probably already know. Americans miss out letters because back in the early days of newspapers to print something you were charged by the letter. So some words had letters missing to save on cost and the words just got stuck like that

Here’s you a true story, I’m not sure if you will post an obituary in your paper when you have a loved one pass in Scotland, but when my mother passed in 2018 her obituary in our local paper cost around $600.00 American. It was just her name, birthday, day of passing, mention of my father, brother, grandsons and myself along with a small remembrance piece. Highway robbery! Of course the average funeral service here is roughly $10,000.00 and I own the cemetery where she’s buried. So that doesn’t include a grave plot and opening and closing. Sorry, didn’t mean to make this a downer post…
