The Assad regime's history towards the Palestinians starting from its intervention in the civil war in Lebanon *on the side of* Christian militias directly and Israel indirectly against the (secular) PLO in 1976, leading to the Tel Zaatar massacre, and then its support in the 80s during the War of the Camps for the anti-Palestinian Amal movement, and all that before the regime's atrocities towards Palestinians in this war, the hunger sieges they imposed on Yarmouk and elsewhere (using the same Israeli justification of "terrorists taking human shields") and the hundreds of Palestinians who've been tortured to death in its jails. Btw, Netenyahu came out last year and said that he had no problem with Assad remaining in power, and that the regime had kept Israel's northern border quiet for the past forty years (www.haaretz.com/israel-news/netanyahu-israel-has-no-problem-with-assad-agreements-must-be-upheld-1.6268158).
