Pedantic, but I wish people would call these what they are: lapel mics. Actual lavalier mics (larger and hung around the neck) haven’t been used since the 1970s.

I like the vid but you started off talking about miking a T-Shirt but showed the button up shirt instead.

I used to use these triangle tape "footballs" back in the '90's. Never worked very well. Haven't used this technique in ages. There are much better ways to hide a lav.

Randy Scott Slavin how much time do you have? 😉 Seriously though, I have a bunch of techniques I use. Depending on wardrobe it varies from shoot to shoot. Vampire clips are great. Medical tape directly to the skin (cleavage area) is great and I use various types of lav concealers based on which mic I’m using Sanken or countryman or whatever. 👍

CL R I don’t have a website but there is a fantastic Facebook group called “lavalier mic hiding techniques” that you should definitely check out. There’s a ton of great information there. Let me know if you have trouble finding it!

Hi there! This video was shot with a boom microphone as it is a close shot. You may find additional helpful information here: www.audio-technica.com/en-us/support/audio-solutions-question-of-the-week-when-should-i-use-a-lavalier-mic-for-video-when-should-i-use-a-boom-mic/ To answer your inquiry of “how” to use a lavalier under a t-shirt, you may use the side collar method as described in the video under the flexible elastic neck band of the t-shirt. Thanks! - A-T USA

I totally feel your frustration. At the beginning it's even specified that there might be situations where someone is wearing a closed front shirt, but they proceed to demonstrate a method for button-up shirts. 🙄

Hard to imagine this ghetto way (which I've seen in a few vids) is the best solution for hiding the lav.

hiding a mic behind something make all the high frequencies not existent, not good, if you are in some kind of war it is ok to do this, otherwise? You are just kiiling the frequencies
