Yes, it's a bit more complex and I think that's why you have the scenarios to build to the full game. I's different to the original but still a lot of fun.

Wow, great explanation. Only thing I would like to know is from where you got those card sleeves. I have been playing Catan like anything since last year and the cards are in pretty bad shape. Didn't know something like card sleeves exists until I saw your video. Thanks a lot.

Thank you! I got the sleeves online. There are the 2 brands I usually buy, Mayday and Gamegenic. Use this website: www.sleeveyourgames.com/ to find the game you want to sleeve for the size. I know exactly what you mean, I sleeve my games now, especially the ones that we use the cards a lot.

Hi Love this explanation, I recently played Catan with 4 players & loved the game. I’m looking for 2 player options, Just want to know what are the options to play for 2 players & possibility to expand , can we play with this expansion ?should we also get base game to play this ? What are the other expansions for 2-4 & more players ?

Thank you so much, it's very kind. I believe some Catan expansions can be played at 2 players but I am not very familiar with them (Traders & Barbarians The Fishermen of Catan you have a 2 player variant) as I mostly play it at 3 or more players. For all the Catan expansions you will need the base game. And if you play at 5-6 players you will need the extensions :) The other Catan expansions are Seafarers, Traders & Barbarians, Cities & knights, Explorers & Pirates. Just one small mistake I want to point out. You CAN build a road pointing toward an undiscovered hex, you just can't discover it (only ships can). You just cannot build roads alongside the undiscovered hex.

Hi Sebby19, I've got a question related to this comment. I understand it's possible to build a road toward an undiscovered hex, but can a ship use that same edge between land and sea to travel toward the undiscovered hex in order to discover it? I mean, can a road and a ship "share" the same space? Or once you've built a road on an edge between land and sea, a ship cannot use that space to travel to another point?

Is it possible in first scenario , with predefined map, to build second ship (yellow player can do so with resources and gold) and then in movement phase to discover 2 hexes (one south and one in north land)? I think it is if your very 1st ship (with settlers) would go to south land (1st hex) , then your 2nd would move to the north (1st hex) where first move of 2nd ship would be road where 1st started. Hope this is not too confusing... Looking for advice if I do intepret rules correctly

So in 12:17 red scores in total 2 Victory points and blue and yellow score each 3 points , but yellow also gets an additional point = 4 Points in total due to the pirate scourge card, correct?!

So, if after defeating the pirates lair if you have one crew member on the hex and an opponent has two crew members on the hex, you could lose your one crew member if you become the hero and the opponent would then keep both of their crew members? Only the hero loses a crew member right, whether they have one or two crew members on the hex?

Hi Jesse, basically if all your ships are carrying something, you would get rid off that, and get a new ship. Hope this helps.

Part 1 the yellow player seems to start off in a disadvantage since the initial settlement is only on 2 hexagons vs 3 like the other players. I don't understand why they would set the board that way.

But the yellow will collect more gold as it has fewer numbers. Remember if you don't collect a resource, you collect gold.

So I ran into the same thing. We just found out we had bought the explorers and pirates 5-6 player expansion. You need to buy the explorers and pirates expansion. It's very easy to mess that up like we just discovered. If your box says 5-6 player expansion it is the wrong one. Buy the plain expansion and it will come with all the peices.

PLEASE I NEED HELP! ok so how many times can A ship offload and unload. So in my situation i had two pirate lair hexes next to each other. One was captured with 2 crew left on it. The one next to it was uncaptured. From afar i had a boat with one crew on it. So i moved that boat to the uncaptured lair and OFFLOADED 1 crew. Then i LOADED the 2 crew from the hex next to it. Then i OFFLOADED again to capture the lair with 3 crew. Is this allowed?

Hi Danielle, in the E&P rules I have not been able to find what happens when you roll a 2. The only mention is if you don't get a resource you get a gold, with the exception of the 7. Now, in Traders & Barbarians, there is a scenario you don't play with a 2 and they say to re roll. In my house, we have a house rule, we get gold if we don't roll the 2. I hope this helps.

According to the rules, every player would just get a Gold piece (since no one got resources). I believe underneath one of the Pirate Lairs is a 2 Token. And in the 55-6 Player Extension, another 2 is added to the Main Island and the Green Moon side.
