I love to dance. I'm from New Orleans, and I've done it all my life. My thing is feeling the music. Once you get the feel, I think ur good. Steppin is so smooth, and it's something you can continue to do as you get older. I need to learn how to move forward and back...work on turns too. I pretty much have the basic step down, thanks to you. I will continue to watch your videos. Thanks for your reply, and again..thank you for making it so easy. I'm not a mathemation!😁💃

Outstanding lesson. Great explanation of what's probably going on with the footwork/count when the leader let's go of the followers hand. When you're trying to learn from watching experienced dancers you can get the count, and feel the rhythm but you can't figure out where and how the dancer is putting thier footwork into the count unless you know what's going on with that.

Great video but. Most instructors that I've been with either in classes or workshops teach the 8 count, and they teach the leaders 1 being on the right foot. For leaders does it matter which foot the 1 is on?

Let me know what category of Chicago style stepping are you doing ?? Is the ole Skool, new skool or free style ??

When I learned I didn't ask about the category because they all have similar rhythms that make it all about keep that going and dance. This will help you get out of the R Kelly style side to side. 6 count, 8 count or freestyle is about the rhythm for me. Thanks for your comments and attention to detail.

I try not to make the dance robotic but focus on the rhythm and you can do so much with your feet.
