I'm always surprised of how many people come to services wearing beach clothing or secondhand clothing and old ratty shoes. God is an artist and you're made in the image of God. Be what God made you to be.

Thanks Raphael! I'll add my own 2 cents, if I may. When venerating the icons, take your time, don't ever feel rushed, say a prayer and then venerate according to the tradition of your church. Also, ladies, please no lipstick or even chapstick. That could destroy an icon. And one more thing...standing. A HUGE pet peeve of mine is when anyone, who is obviously taller than me, decides to stand directly in front of me, completely blocking my view of the alter/priest. (my church gets extremely crowded)Kindly step to the side or at least turn around and ask if you're blocking the (shorter)person behind you! Whew! Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

I’m always so paranoid about where I stand so as to not block anyone… and I’m just average height 😂. Of course, my nature I’m a corner-dwelling wallflower anyway, and if I have to be “out in the open” I get so much anxiety. Introvert problem. 🤣

​@KatWomanHikes Well, if I had it my way, I'd stand in the very back. Practically in the narthex. When I first came to church, that's were I stood for the longest time. But within the past 6 or 7 months, the church has really gained popularity. So many people coming....and staying! It was so crammed in the back, I forced myself to move forward, though I'd be more comfortable in the back. Oh well, it's all good.

When we attend church, it is to direct our attention and worship to Christ. Attire that takes the attention away from Christ and to yourself does not promote a reverent and spiritual attitude. You are not the focus, Christ is. Wear something “nice” if you can, be respectful, you are standing in the presence of the King of the Universe.

Hey Raphael! Thanks for the clarification! I'm not new to the church but I did learn a bit. One area that I'd like to learn more about is when to bow, I know by experience that every time the Trinity is mentioned, or when they say Gospodi Pomilui (Lord have mercy) are the most obvious moments. Also, it would be great to review basic responses like Gospodi Pomilui, the paschal greeting, etc.

Forgive me a sinner...Raphael, im in the Antiochian Church and i was taught when receiving a blessing its right hand above left to take the Priest or Bishops hand...then Father (or Saynida (Master), with a bow, no cross) bless...is left hand above right hand of the Slavic tradition?, just genuinely curious...as I have gone to a Slavic church and noticed many differences...thank you for your time...
