I am an artist and teacher. I have been making art since as far back as I can remember. I love to paint, sew, hand make all the things. I started my electronic journey of filming and posting back in 2015, though in 2017 with my Daily Devotion work, worked through my camera fears and posting on a public forum. Then I decided to become a little more serious in my endeavors to create content for other artisans. 2019 was a difficult year on all counts, personal and professional. 2020 is a new year and I am eager to continue with this project. I do Custom, commission embroideries as well.

I'd been putting off trying embroidery, after many years of cross stitch, because somehow I got the idea that it was really difficult. It's not! I finally tried it this year and am enjoying picking up new stitches. You've given me a new one to try, with the braided stitch. Thanks for the clear instruction and for not going too fast. This makes it easy to understand.

I'm watching this again as I prepare to embroider a reticule I'm making. I forgot you talked about mixing colors. That's such a genius idea. Of course, I never knew you weren't supposed to always use all the threads in the floss all the time, so *shrug*. LOL
@EagleRue
@EagleRue 4 жыл бұрын
I used to do cross stitch pattern "paintings" before they were a thing you could get at walmart and michaels as kits. I have an art background, so mixing threads made sense to me. I have had some many people not consider you could do that and I desperately wanted to share that. I am SOOOO glad you found this useful!!

Nice! I've known embroidery stitches for a while, but never really knew how to put them together to create a picture.

Wow! I need to get a hoop so I can work on my stitches. I’ve never practiced much but this makes me want to

You can do it! There is a link in the description box for hoops. I use the plain wooden ones. If you get a few sizes, it helps to have a few as you expand to different projects.

Adding embroidery to the edges of garments looks so pretty! Did you add the embroidery after finishing the garment. And if so how do you manage to get the sleeve area in a hoop? (Can you even? Seems like it would make stabilizing the work hard)

What a wonderful question! Yes, most of the embroidery is done after the garment is complete. If you go back into my history you will sess garments that are embroidered before. The plaited braid stitch and the chain stitch are exceptionally easy to do without a hoop- once you practice them a few times.
