I am an artist and teacher. I have been making art since as far back as I can remember. I love to paint, sew, hand make all the things. I started my electronic journey of filming and posting back in 2015, though in 2017 with my Daily Devotion work, worked through my camera fears and posting on a public forum. Then I decided to become a little more serious in my endeavors to create content for other artisans. 2019 was a difficult year on all counts, personal and professional. 2020 is a new year and I am eager to continue with this project.

How interesting. I like this use as it will enable a different view and texture to a gown. This also makes me think of decorative hems in a different way. Thank you for being apart of Cocovid!

I use to use this method on the quilts I use to design and make when Mom and I would quilt together. Since she passed away in 2011 I have not been able to bring myself to quilt again. I have a quilt that Mom made for me but never quilted the 3 layers together so I need to make a quilting frame and work on it ☺️ I loved designing picture quilts I have electric quilt software which when I first started using it I was told it was not designed for that kind of work 😹😹😹 when I showed Penny and Dean the owners of the software what I had done Dean started to reprogramming the software to take it into account 😹😹they used my early designs at the Huston quilt show back in 90’s. I love appliqué work more than standard patchwork I think it’s because it can be used on clothing and stitched with embroidery floss. You can also dress it up with beads too thanks for sharing it was nice to see this type of work again 🤗🤗🤗

What an interesting concept! I loved the examples you showed at the beginning and the end. Especially how it is a technique used in non-Western cultures. I have to imagine the first time someone tries this it is very nerve-wracking to make that first cut into fabric :D

So neat. I've seen the finished product of this method before, but never really investigated how it was done. The tiny cut sections make sense, but I would not have thought to do it that way. Also I gained a better understanding of how the chain stitch is done. Thanks!

Lovely, I've seen a few costumes with this. I may have to try it. You did some embroidery on the outside. Are there any extant garments that show additional embroidery on the inner sections?

Very beautiful examples at the beginning, I actually haven't seen this before anywhere. What do you do with the loose fabric on the back? Tack it down or leaving it like that?
@EagleRue
@EagleRue 4 жыл бұрын
Good question! Just leave it. Because you tacked around the reverse image to show through, the fabric is not going to go anywhere. Since there really is not a great deal of loose fabric it does not interfere with the project. Now; I will say that if you are reverse applique on a garment (which I have done) you can cut away the excess if you think it will create bulk in the garment. But usually I use it as part of the stiffening or structural aspect of the garment. I will have a video on a project where you can see I have done this.

Was that the chain embroidery stitch at 7:42? I was wondering since you made the stitch differently than Gilbert Dolthalion did in his embroidery video for cocovid. I could be totally wrong now. Beautifully executed craft (and video-thanks for the close closeups)
