*Kal emerges wielding a Syntheyes license while on a horse for some reason. "I see in your track a jitter that would take the heart of me! A day may come when the calculation of refine fails, when we forsake our distortion and break all axis locks of their weighting. But it is not this day..........." Halfway through writing this I got bored. ha

would you be able to post the shot so we could practice on the same thing you're showcasing? Maybe that's not always possible, but I'd love to follow along if I could.

Great tutorial! Thank you very much! I would be cool to see more advance GeoH setup with human body and weight paints.

Just a quick question, I've generally avoided doing the object tracking in Syntheyes (GEOH) for years due to a small issue I haven't been able to figure out. I decided to give it another go with this video, I followed along, with a sphere for the object I was using, everything keyed in location, upon playing the timeline to track, the object jumps from it's initial spot off screen. What is causing that jump and how do you prevent it?

I wouldn't use it for most object solves really. ha GeoH (for me) shines when dealing with hinging objects. Doors, arrows, facial features, etc. Syntheyes GeoH doesn't seem to have a full set of refinement tools that I've seen in other software. But....I've had this problem you're describing. I think I know how to replicate it easily. At the time I found a fix but it's so annoying and tedious I've never done it again. So I line up one frame and start with what I did in the video all the time. Did you manually make an object and set it to GeoH under the solver panel? Or did you let one of the GeoH button make a centered joint? When I manually made a GeoH object it would ALWAYS snap back to resting pos. I'll have to mess around and remember what I did. I might have fluked it really.

@@trackvfx6760 I've done it both ways actually. I did figure out that making an fbx rig in your 3d software with extra parent nulls above the tracked transform to zero them out seems to usually work.. but I find the hierarchy behavior in Syntheyes a little wonky so I usually use a 3d package to do the object track
