Basic Groundwork With Abe - Day 2

December 8, 2024 - My second session with Abe, a 2-year-old stallion prospect belonging to Brittany Wright over at Circle B Horsemanship. This handsome fella is here to see what he can accomplish during a 30-day start. He has had some groundwork and gentling but hasn’t been worked with consistently. Abe is still a little uncertain of being walked up to for catching, and once caught if he’s pressured at all he wants to sell out and leave. He’s pretty intelligent and settles relatively quickly, so I’m interested to see what he can accomplish with some consistency. He’s a quality moving horse with a lot of presence, and is big for a two-year-old.
Abe is out of Gene and Jan Hetletved’s program, and is an Awesome Roany son out of a Rolling Jax Copper daughter. He’s at least a 3/4 brother to Riggs, Cake, Soda, Sawny, and Tugboat, and a 1/2 brother to Sully and Pete. I’m hoping he fits Brittany’s needs, as he sure seems like a quality prospect.

@LazyKMOverBarHorsemanship Riata is going to need someone handier than me. She is way more reactive than Tori. Tori is going south for the winter.

My girls are complete opposites. I have both haltering well but Tori is way farther along. Although taking them back and forth to the horse pak arena to run has helped Riata not be quite so tense about being approached. Riata needs alot of work.
