I know you might seem this is correct as many others but it’s not. Correcting does not need to include all the hitting you are doing just simple stop circle and again. You don’t need to hit. Very poor.

@LazyKMOverBarHorsemanship2 күн бұрын
@@Charl-j6v I wouldn’t consider this career broodmare a “backyard mare.” Mares like her are extremely rare and sought after, and it was a privilege having a chance to cover her with one of my stallions. If you have a problem with mares being bred back with foals at side, you better have an issue with how it’s done in nature as well. You won’t find stallions in the wild waiting to breed a mare until her foal is grown.

That is not hand breeding. That is tying up your Mare and having a stallion nearly get caught on a gate so he can make with her. I would consider that somewhat cruel and you guys need a lesson in handling.
@LazyKMOverBarHorsemanship14 күн бұрын
@@braeburnhilliard8340 Hand breeding is handling a stallion on a lead to cover a mare. This situation is the safest scenario for a single handler. I’m not in exact control of whether the stallion gets a front foot over the gate, obviously that wasn’t what I was looking for, but it was still very successful. There’s nothing cruel about it. Breeding horses this way is about as natural as you can get it done in a pen setting without leaving the stallion and mare in with each other.

I refer to Indian gentling. Just after that foal bonds with the mare all hands must be placed on that colt/filly. Touching and rubbing as often as necessary to aclimate the colt with humans. The halter should be place early on to avoid later difficulties. Breaking a horse is counterproductive, partnering up and becoming friends with a young colt is the objective. Sadly, we placed a mare in a stall too small for foaling and after birth the mare could not tend to the colt and we lost a beautiful filly. I will never forget the devasted look on that mares face thinking she failed.

As I watch your leg cues, I see that the leg opposite of the cue leg is brought away from the horse. (I hope that I worded that correctly). I do the same thing when training a horse. For me, doing that helps the horse understand what you are asking. Bringing one leg away from the horse tells the horse that it's alright to move away the pressures. Using your legs to cue the back is my preferred method. Thanks for sharing your videos.
