Thanks man. An official video from someone I can trust is exactly what I was looking for. You never know if those off-road youtubers know what they are talking about.

If I was yolked like the actor in the video, I'd just let out the winch rope and pull the jeep out myself.

Thank you. I got a jeep with a winch and understand how to make the winch do it's thing however it wasnt until i came across someone on a trail stuck in sand that i relized maybe i aughto learn how to safley operate one (already had a basic understanding of the dangers) so I'm not stuck somewhere with no cell service to look up how to be safe and how to not ruin my winch aside from the common sense stuff 😅 luckily the person who was stuck already had someone running back on a 4wheeler to get help from their party.

@@warnindustries l still have your early HS9500i winch, it’s 24 years old, and it still works very well.👍🇺🇸🇺🇸

@@warnindustries So, got my first winch installed and went out to unspool and respool under the weight of the vehicle. It’s a synthetic rope and was making random popping noises while winching under pressure/weight. Is it normal for it to make a noise the first time?

Hey guys just a quick question. When you’re winching someone else out what gear should your transmission be in ? I put a Warn EVO 10000 on my Jeep and haven’t needed it yet. Any help is appreciated
@warnindustries2 жыл бұрын
If you're doing the winching, then you'll want the vehicle in neutral with your foot on the brake. Make sure to let the winch do the work, and don't drive the vehicle backward. If you need to move the vehicle back, stop, and re-rig.

And if you are in 4low while your brake is on, your entire drivetrain is locked down and all tires contribute traction in addition to having mechanical advantage of low gear.

Serious safety issue here. When you are operating your winch from inside the vehicle, you don't stick your head and arm outside the vehicle. All body parts need to be inside. All windows should be closed. When a cable or rope is flying through the air, there is no time to react to move out the way. I'm flabbergasted that Warn thinks it's ok to demonstrate that being half outside of the vehicle in such a dangerous scenario is ok 🤷
