INCREDIBLE!!!!! I can't believe I didn't know about this knot before. This knot would work so well for my big eggshell foam that I use when I go camping! This would also be an excellent type of knot to cinch up and close the top of a sack that you're going to be in and out of all the time.

This is a knot i use all the time. Everyone should and show others to make this knot. My personal additions to this knot. Having CJ/A knot on both ends allows for a handle for something like this. ( good for kids to know to hold there mitts/gloves over there neck but easy to undo to use.) Bring the loop over the other end , then tightening it allows for a full circle or loop.( i use that for hooking a much of tape together. ty for sharing C.R.

I really like the figure of eight knot instead of an overhand. It may work the same, but it just looks more classy.

@@TheSmokinApe Amen to that! It has a lot more uses too. With the figure of eight, a loop can be tied to the end of a rope. Try that with an overhand and you have a noose.

I use the The Canadian Jam Knot on my Tent after I roll up my Tent in the morning at my Stealth Camping spot..

Packer's knot works fine too. For hard tension or for cinching down a load I'd work with some variation of the truckers hitch. Preferably with a auto-locking action (passing the working end throught the loop twice).
