When I was little I used to change the bearings and stuff on my push bike (with my friend showing me) and I really enjoyed tinkering around. Since I have purchased a PX 150 I have decided to learn the basics and this morning I changed the spark plug and am really pleased with myself. I know you are all probably laughing, but I had to start somewhere!!! Thank you for some really easy to follow instructions and I can't wait to change the oil, etc. Melanie :)

@5:01 its recomended to loosen/remove then inlet screw when you drain the screw.

Follow-up to my Stella scoot issue. After taking apart most of the scoot and checking everything out, we looked at the exhaust - should have looked there sooner. Someone had put a restrictor on the end of the exhaust for some reason. The exhaust hole was only 1/4" wide at the end. Took it off and now it runs like a champ.

Thanks, jonnieboz. I am glad you pointed that out. The hypoid gear oil should only be used in modern automatic scooters and not the manual shifters.

Gear oil in most 4 stroke automatic scooters is likely going to use 90 weight or similar. We use Bel Ray hypoid gear oil in our shop.

We should do a roadside video for rear wheel. Since the engine weight makes the scooter tip back, you'll need something or someone to prop it up for you. Remove the spare tire, then remove the lug nuts and slip the tire and wheel out of there. Follow the same proceedure to change the tube. If you're on the road with no assistance, lay a jacket down and rest the scooter on its engine side on the jacket. Then proceed removing the rear wheel.

Venomlords- I wonder if you're getting enough fuel? Restricted fuel lines occurred from time to time in about 2004 models but have not been an issue in the newer rela\eases. Also, check to see that the rear hub nut is tight and there isn't any side to side play in the rear wheel.

why is it a good idea to carry a spare spark plug

Incase of breakdown, no need to spend time to cleanup carbon from plug. Just insert the spare plug, go home, then clean it with polish paper/sandpaper to remove all the carbon and keep it as spare again.

Please excuse me if this is a stupid question. To put in new oil, would it work to lay the scooter down (or almost down)..? I realize this might require de-fueling it first, and maybe removing the battery Thanks for your time.

great vid... BUT... you must NOT use 'hypoid' or E.P. oils in Vespa's Or Lambretta's - due to the clutch running in the transmission oil bath. It WILL result in the clutch 'slipping' and burning out ! Vespa = straight SAE 30, or 15w/40 multigrade ( Castrol GTX is perfect ) Lambretta = SAE 90, but I have used Castrol GTX for a long period of time - with no ill effects

Is the 250ml of 'gear oil' the same as the oil you're putting into the reservoir underneath the seat? (high quality 2 stroke injector oil mentioned earlier?)

How do you fix the kick start on the Stella 4T? Mine only worked on day 1 and hasn't worked since. The electric start is fine but I'd like to keep my scoot 100% in working order. Thanks

I'm having some problems getting my Stella over 30mph - it's only 2 years old. I changed the spark plug, cleaned the jets. What could the problem be? I'm at a loss. It just doesn't have any power. My 2005 Stella runs fine.

@TheSonofmydad I would not lay the scooter on its side for that. Get a squeeze ketchup bottle (refillable kind that you see in a diner) or a large syringe. See around 5:30 mark of the video. Good luck!

The Gear Oil and the 2 cycle oil are *NOT* the same! The 2 cycle oil is specifically designed for the AOM Automatic Oil device. The gear oil is similar to a standard 10W40. I changed mine a week ago. I put the 8.5 OZ into an oiler can with a thumb pump, then squirted it into the top port until it started to overflow. It will only take 8.5 OZ, so you can't overfill it, like with a car.
