Thanks, Robot. I rely on these vintage vespa videos more than you might think! You helped me to change out the locking mechanism on my column. I was missing a key when I bought it, and ordered the part and watched the video from you guys.

Nice one. Like how you explain the importance of tension and play in the cable along with greasing. It would be great to see how you do a change on a cable outer by feeding an old cable inner through as a guide. A lot of people don't know that trick. Totally with you on the toolkit mate!

Thanks for the heads up. I had a Portland shop do a polini build to my 64 small frame and the clutch slipped out of adjustment before I'd burned a half tank of fuel... don't do business with them any more. Glad to know this is so simple. Thought I'd have to open the case or something.

Thanks Robot! I love your videos! I re entry purchased a 1974 Vespa Rally 200. After installing a new carburetor, it runs very well. Currently, it’s clutch is not disengaging. I’ve completely destroyed a brand new clutch cable so, I’ll order a new one and tackle it’s installation and adjustment when I get it. Thanks again! You make it look so easy! LOL!

I love that you are still going in these difficult times. Great viewing from a sweltering England. Everything is scooter relevant even though I have two Hexagons, a Fly and an ET4 125 Leader, I am eagerly anticipating your next video. I have many motorcycles too and do all the work myself. Only the MOT's are completed somewhere else at my friend's motorcycle shop. Stay safe and well.

It was the shift cable that always broke on my 1966 Vespa 150. When I finally learned how to lube them with graphite grease those cable drove me nuts. Sometimes I would feed the new cable through the tube and it would get hung up right near the end. I was just a 17 yr. old and was still learning. I miss my Astra Blue Vespa all these years later.

Excellent step by step tutorial. I am an engineer and do the maintenance on my PX and this is how I myself do this job. I am sure that most viewers will have the 3 washers missing as a past mechanic who did the cable replacement through them away as he could not get the pin through not knowing the alignment sequence.

Have watched your videos for a while now and I am impressed with how thorough your tutorials are! I’m working on a P 200 from 1982, and would like to remove and lubricate the handlebar gear selector. It’s very hard to turn which I can’t attribute entirely to cable lube. Do you have a video for that or if not can you give me a hint or two about how to remove or lubricate it?

Glad you like them, thanks for checking us out! We've got an older video series where we restored a P200. Check out this video where we reassembled the headset. Hopefully there's enough info in there to help you. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zpe3mISvlJeqfKc

Is there another forum or way to contact you with other issues I may encounter with this vintage scooter?

likely a worn third gear. 3rd and 4th gear tend to wear. Not too hard to replace, but ya do have to split the engine case to get to it.

Does anyone know how to get the outer clutch cable back into the handle bar of 1963 VBB vespa, Similar head to a GS and GL My handlebar needed replaced so I had to pull the clutch cable out of the handlebar (all good the rest is still in the body) So now I'm trying feed that outer back through the cast head casing (that holds the handlebar) into the slot in the new handlebar and it just doesn't want to go through. Next it has to come out the slot further up the other side of the bar and into the alloy clutch lever part. This is an enclosed handle bar case so I can't get in there and guide it like on later models where its much easier to access, Any tips? Thank you

Hallo, I need exactly theese indicators you have on your vespa. do you know where I can get theese?
@rd400racer5 ай бұрын
I did everything exactly as you described and we cannot get it to work properly. As soon as we barely let the clutch out it engages and kills the engine. We put the adjuster in every position possible but it just does the same thing. Extremely frustrating, especially considering the bike runs perfect. It's a1968 model with sidecar.

when we were kids and had no money the clutch cable broke and we couldn't afford a new one so we connected it to the rear floor brake, was fun unless the pillion passenger want to lean t the right at the light , then you would stall

Why there is so much empty space between the barrel head of the cable and the actual hole of the lever itself? don't you want a cable barrel that fits precisely the hole of the metal lever so that the barrel doesn't move around?
