Thank you! I was also curious about this as an amigurumi artist myself. I think i'll try felting on my Mr. Meeseeks!

You're welcome! Needle felting is awesome for amigurumi. You're going to love all the things you can do with it.

thank you so much for sharing this. You made it so easy and simple to understand. I can't get wait to get started but I have to buy my tools first, hehe. Thanks again :) x

Thanks for the tutorial! I just bought my set of needles some days ago (which, coincidentally, look exactly like the purple one you have there), and I'm looking some tutorials just to have a better idea on how to do it. I can't waiting to try it. As soon as the needles arrive, of course (I wish shipping here was faster).

Is there a certain type of yarn the roving will stick to better? Thank you so much for this!

Natural fibers, and any yarns that are slightly fluffy work wonderfully. However, I use this on acrylic all the time as well and it works fine too. When working on amigurumi, it will also go through a bit and tangle with the fiber fill inside.

I have seen amigurumi's eyes that look like to me that are needle felted, I can not tell for sure from the picture itself, have you seen needle felted eyes yourself, if so, is it the same process? Any advise if I am to try needle felting eyes on amigurumis? Thank You

Yes, needle felting makes lovely eyes on amigurumi. It is basically the same technique, though I do have a few tricks for getting them the same shape, and size, and for placement. I plan to make another tutorial for this in the near future.

Are the items still machine washable after the needle felting?

Holly Siebenaler, everything I have washed has survived so far.

Stupid question can you use felt for this
@FrogHooker7 жыл бұрын
Madeline Hastings, Yes you can! Just cut your felt to the size and shape you want, and then needle around the outter edge to secure it in place. I use a dap of fabric glue in the center to further secure it as well. Make sure your glue doesn't touch where you are going to be needling though. Have fun! :)

Thank you for a great tutorial! I've only read in crochet patterns to "needle felt this part" but never knew what is actually meant. You inspired me to give it a try! :) I only have one question I hope you (or someone else) can answer - is it important what yarn the amigurumi is made of, and what it is stuffed with? I.e. does this work on amigurimis made from acryl yarn, cotton yarn, etc or does it have to be wool?

Hello Marubi B, The animals you see in the example are acrylic, and are stuffed with regular fiberfill. While certain fibers will stick easier than others, I've never had it not work. I have also used this method on hats, where there is no stuffing at all. I hope that helps. Love & Light, Rachel. (aka the Frog Hooker)

Fantastic, thank you so much!

No es necesario el fieltro. También se puede usar un peine para perro para separar la lana que se quiera usar. Yo hice un muñeco felting con estambre del gato y la verdad me quedo bien siendo que era la primera vez que lo intentaba.

I have a question. It looks like the amigurumi animal was made from acrylic yarn. Do you have many problems with the needle felted surfaces separating from the acrylic yarn?
@FrogHooker2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is acrylic. I have never had anything separate yet. I hope this helps 🥰
