Kevin, this is so valuable. When you demonstrated mixing everything together to get midtones, I realized that this technique is part of what gives your paintings such a sense of depth. Bravo.

Thanks for taking the time to fix the audio Kevin! :) It's amazing how you do your paintings with so few colours! I also really appreciate this video since it will serve as a good reference both for when I'm painting, and for when I'm not sure what mix you're using in your videos!

Great video. I almost always mix my blacks using burnt umber and ultramarine, it creates a gorgeous chromatic black. I use a lot of Prussian blue and burnt umber for shadow colors, sometimes adding a little Aliz. Crimson for good measure.

I have learned a lot from your teachings and thank you very much for that. One point: I think your sunshine color in your paintings seem dim and not glowing. Now that I see your video I think it is because you use hansa yellow and yellow ocher. I think a mix of Cadmium yellow pale and red would better for sunshine. Please comment.

Good tutorial! I’ve always wondered how you melded colors and especially when you skip from one scene to the next and somehow “magically“ an entire mountain has appeared with 13 different color values. Ha ha

@sunshinemorris92978 жыл бұрын
Hi Sue Egland, to answer your question he only uses oils in his videos but on his website he says that you can get the same result with acrylic. It just takes a couple of alternations because of the different drying time. I hope you found this helpful ☺.
