I love this video! Swords are a passion of mine, especially katanas, other types of Japanese swords, and other types of Japanese weapons! Thanks for the video. I don't have any real historical types of Katanas (that have been used in combat), to be honest my Katanas are 'not real traditional' to be honest they are 'knockoffs' I enjoy having them, each one is unique in it's own way. Is there books that I can buy to learn the different parts of a Katanas?

I have an a samurai sword from Scotland! It was my mother in laws sensei. He gave to her when she was in her 20s. Shes over 60 now. The steel is like spring steel. It flexes and spring back! Id love to know if it is real?

3:03 It's not like people all of a sudden stopped willingly to practise martial arts, but it was actually the US government who forbid the practising of martial arts, and katanas in Japan, in order to "disarm" Japan. In the video it sounds like they just didn't give a damn anymore, but all the iaido, battodo, kendo... etc federations had actually work really hard, to convince the US that it was part of their culture, and that they couldn't just take it all away from them.

True. I wish they fought back on the changes a bit more, but understand their acquiescence to the US.

The blade down thing always bothers me. Even when it’s just an action figure. 😅 How can people not know the proper orientation of the blade…

Fair job but tell the whole story need to know what every part is called need to go over it more than one time talk about grip and how using the top of the blade is important demonstrate where exactly you should sharpen your blade now the point is used p for piercing and cutting thank you for your video
