Thanks Robert ~ I appreciate you taking the time to share this. Your videos are always so helpful! **Quick note for Thunder Laser owners who received their Grip after December 2022: check out the manual (page 20) for updates on steps per rotation (and your dipstick configuration). Looks like the default dipstick configuration has been changed to match up to 8000 steps per rotation for Thunder machines**

This is the best video on this grip on KZbin. Thank you Robert. Appreciate your tutorials for the community. Also, you took the screws out of the sides of the grip and put back on the screw knobs on the sides but never put the screws back in. Should we keep those screws out for easy tumbler alignment? This way I can easily unthread the knobs and tilt the grip when needed?
@computercreationz10 ай бұрын
thank you for your comments. I leave the small screws out because my grip is rarely level. lol

@@computercreationzI think I will do the same because I noticed that once I get my cup on and the cup leveled using the raise up and down part towards the bottom of the cup, it removed half the cup from the grip so when it’s time to spin. It falls off easily. I think the only way to really fix that is to do what you did, and that to level the grip itself.

Thank you so much. Where can I find one of those handy dandy levels that fit on round objects?
@computercreationz Жыл бұрын
Any hardware store or Amazon they are called line levels there used for construction!

Great video on how the Grip works, any pros & cons vs the standard PiBurn & Grip?
@computercreationz Жыл бұрын
Both work very well, if your just going to do basic engraving the rotary works great of you get into allot of different kind of tumblers and unique items the Grip is the way to go. I’ve engrave items from 6” baseball bats to 1 gallon Rtic jugs and I don’t even hav ego change the steps per rotation.

no I left the silver screws out because I do allot of other items that require greater movement of the grip head. thanks for the question

Great video! Thanks. When you remove the screws to level, do you leave those out since it would need to be done for every job? Also, do you need to enter diameter every time? With the 4.0, I rely just in template size. Thanks
@computercreationz Жыл бұрын
yes I leave them out.

Mr. Robert On the end of your Grip rail you have a plastic box, is that all the pieces for the Grip machine ? How or what did you use to hold it on there ?

I modified my grip motor 90 degrees before they started making them this way.. that cover if on there by friction is all but it worked great since I’ve had it.

I used the steps calculated from the manual and my diameter is set correctly. But I'm getting a really stretched image. I can lower the steps and it's perfect but with some larger objects I get skipped lines even with a very low LPI like 0.03. Any tips?
