All of nature has periods of rest. I think we could learn from that as humans. It’s especially important after giving birth. 😊

My son just turn 4 weeks and I thought there was no way I could’ve rested for a month but I wish I had that option as I’m still healing but my husband had to go back to work (I’m a stay at home wife and we have no family or friends where we are to help) and so I barely got 2 weeks. We both decided that next baby (this was our first so big learning lesson) that we would figure something out better so I can just rest and be with baby for at least 4-6 weeks. I’ve loved breastfeeding but it’s only stressful because of having to run errands and do things since we were not better prepared. Resting and enjoying the blessings God gave us is absolutely necessary not only after birth but through every season of life 💚

I'm in my ZEN era. I have slowly turned my home into an absolute sanctuary, with the material things, food, clothing, activities, even the shows or social media, that help me slow down and decompress, after working all week. I no longer have a "show" house, I have a home and that makes a huge difference. It's like a hug, every time I walk through the door.

"Rest is an active, intentional choice" Yes. It does not come natural. I tend to crash, not rest. I go, go, go until I fall apart. That kind of rest is not fun. It usually has consequences. Also, if I don't intentionally plan rest it can just feel like laziness and bring up a lot of guilt. My relationship with rest needs work, for sure. This was a great video.
@MadisunGray2 ай бұрын
thank you so much! i agree that so many people nowadays (myself included if I'm not intentional) just go through all of life very passively rather than purposefully. and miss so much richness.

Being nearly 36 weeks pregnant, this video was PERFECT for my heart going into the next few weeks. I am so excited to take rest to welcome our son into the world and to take time as a family, now with a baby, to relish in the the Christmas season with all it's hope and blessings.

Madi- thank you for your content. I make it a special treat for me. I’ll sit down and tune all else out and watch your videos. They’ve helped me so much! Since the passing of my parents, and my children growing up, I’ve seriously struggled with emotional keeping of things. With prayers and your content, I’ve been unloading a lot of “things”. Multiple trips to Goodwill this month, and even a trip to the animal shelter to unload many, many comforters/blankets 🐾. I’m getting there. 💕. Thank you!

This one got me today. Just did my normal 2-hour commute home and waited all day to watch your video until I got home. Good thing I did because there were plenty of tears. Your statement about not even knowing what rest looks like until we get out of survival mode was a bit genius. Also. Thank you so much for trying that hack with your couch because I have also seen it and wondered if it works.

Hey Madison! I just wanted to say thank you for your videos on slow living and finding peace in the everyday. They came into my life during some dark times, and your words brought so much relief. The way you talk about life, slowing down, and truly living has helped me see things in a new light. I’m so grateful for what you share; it’s truly making a difference. Thank you for all that you do!

Another wonderful video Madi, thank you and bless you and your beautiful family 🌼 we all have challenges from our loved ones and people within our society who believe that working and not resting is the way we should live! I have worked as a midwife and nurse in England for 35 years and have taken partial retirement, I enjoy having rest days but the responses I have from others who are focused on us all being productive is surprising! Fortunately, I have found that being unproductive is the absolute best thing to do 🙏🏻

I started a slow morning routine. I get up before my toddler (at least 1 hr) and I read and sip my coffee outside. My son also has a slow morning. He comes and sits in my lap and snuggles. This, hands down, changed my life. How you start your day matters so much. It sets the tone and intention for the day. I can get my scattered brain organized and plan what I need to do that day. I love your content so much. The slower pace helps regulate the listener too! 🫶🏼

Super excited to welcome her into a peaceful environment I’ve been on a Decluttering journey for the past 37 days in my shorts videos. I know you’re not on social media much but if you need some entertainment you might enjoy it 😁🫶🏼 much love from your Florida friend!!!

This was very inspiring. I am about to have a hysterectomy. The total opposite of giving birth, but a time I now believe needs rest. Time to greive, time to heal, and time to gain back my strength. Thank you for this video.

This was a wonderful video. When you talked about the flower and how we don't think what's wrong with that flower I completely fell apart. I feel that way about myself often. I've struggled with health issues for such a long time. This was such a sweet and good reminder of how I need to treat myself better. Thank you! ❤

@MadisunGray haha!! Just stuffing another person in our little home..time to declutter again! Also love the whole idea of this video. You make great videos! I wish I had had this when I was raising my kids. I established a daily “quiet time” when my four kids and I would “rest” in afternoons: quiet activity or reading or napping on the bed or outside in our summer tent. (We did not have a tv.)

I’d love a day in the life video from you and a week in the life too! Idk what’s too much and what’s not enough, and itd help to see someone else’s rhythms who has been learning and living this way for a while now!! It’s hard to give myself permission to live slowly, to enjoy these blessings from God, to feel it’s enough and matters and worthy! I can really guilt myself if all I do is take care of my home (laundry, dishes, etc) and spend time with my hubby and pup, hang out outside just on the porch, etc!

I kinda wanna challenge myself to do something similar to this in January during the cold season. Also, the clip of you in the garden with the jeans is iconic! Such a gorgeous shot! Thanks for sharing, always! Also, two videos back to back? You're spoiling us!!!!

Thank you for bringing the attention of how important rest is to your viewers. It's so important, God Himself rested on the seventh day AFTER His labor of love creating earth, animals, and man. Rest is so important God created a season, winter, for rest and restoration for all of His creation to take a time out. This is one of many lessons I wish I had learned when I was young as you. But because I did not, instead, believing work was important, sleep deprivation was one of the culprits that landed me in 2016 battling late-stage 3 cancer. Yes, one of 3 culprits ruined my health: Unrelenting Stress - Unresolved Anger - Sleep Deprivation. All consistent negatives in my life I had harbored ignorantly taking me down a path of illness I would not wish on my worst enemy. But I've recovered, not without consequences, but thankful nonetheless and wiser for it. God bless you and your beautiful family. Much love always from Texas.
