She didn't die in my version. She made it to the otherside. She went to a casino and with one pull she hit the jackpot and bought a house in Maui.

I agree. The chicken lived. The assumption that she died is by those scared of the road. But I guess the real point is what about yourself you see in the chicken and outcome.

I love the irony of her "impossible dream" of becoming a dentist. Chicken don't have teeth. Such a beautiful song.

This song was very symbolic of Bo and his journey through fame. The chicken represents Bo being a teenager dreaming of getting to be a comedian and live his dream and the road represents the difficult journey he had to go through to try get to the other side (his aspirations), moving "ahead left, right, left, right, left, right" symbolising him trying to keep performing and following his dreams despite the anxiety and depression etc that he was going through during it. And people not knowing if the chicken died or made it to the other side symbolises how he hid from the world and maybe the anxiety and everything destroyed him completely (getting hit by the car) or, in the end, he got to where he once dreamt of being (making it to the other side)

Ellie, if you listen to the album version of the song rather than the video. After the song ends you hear a car "speed past" and a chicken gawking. So the chicken did in fact survive! Thanks for the reaction video, great as always!

How about a VV (Ville Valo) reaction? He is formerly of the band HIM from Finland and just put out a solo record where he did everything by himself. The Bo of Goth/love metal but he’s amazing most people like it when they hear it it’s something unique. Songs to note on the new album Neon Noir, The Foreverlost, Loveletting, Echolocate your love. The entire album is amazing. My favorite artist by far. Totally underrated.

@@michaelwolf7840 yeah many times and it clearly talks about someone trying to leave the monotony of their lives to experience more, can you explain where is the reference to suicide?
@keep1t5imple5tupid Жыл бұрын
@@xdami4nx its actually pretty simple if you consider suicide as an escape from the monotony of life. Did you miss the part where the chicken walked out into the road and chose to stop in front of a car? Instead of continuing on its path, it chose to die... which is suicide. Comedy is subjective and objective, interpreted differently by different people. Personally, I thought it was a metaphorical reenactment of the founding of KFC. The chickens suicide was the foundation for a successful chain that profits off people like you and your insatiable need to digest grease and fried flour. Its quite brilliant...
@MeganTheLibrarian3 Жыл бұрын
@@xdami4nx I can! The common joke "Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to the other side." is a double meaning because "the other side" can refer to the literal road or dying. So the whole point of the joke is whether the chicken was literally just crossing the road or committing suicide. Bo talks about depression and suicide a lot in his work, and I think that's one reason why he chose to make a song about this joke. However, I disagree with Michael that she definitely dies. Like the original joke, it is left up to us to interpret whether or not we think she made it. The way he phrases, "BUT I think we ought to believe that she got to the other side" sounds hopeful. So you can interpret the ending however you want... But on some level the song is most likely talking about suicide. I think there whole premise of this song and how he does it is meant to be comedic, but there is definitely something deeper going on there.
