I read once that our paths are shaped ina spiral. Often people feel like going back to the basics is a step backwards, but you've grown and learned since then, and you're really coming back around to expand on it. I get a deeper meaning or new perspective every time. It really threw me off when I moved from the southwest desert to the far north. While I love it here, it was one of the most spiritually alienating experiences. My witchcraft is so different here, and my relationships with the land, energies, etc are totally new. Hugs! 💚

I've read the spiral path thing a few times too, and that's one of the reasons coming back to the beginning is a good idea -- one that I actually missed when talking about it! So thank you for bringing that up, too! It's really spiritually alienating, that's a good way to put it. I'm sure, given time, we'll do just fine! 💜

I love Insight Timer. I finished the "Learn to Meditate in 7 Days" course as well. It was really helpful. I'm looking into diving deeper into meditation. I feel kind of stuck now when I meditate.

So far I'm having really good luck with Insight Timer. I'm using their timer with the sounds but I also find some really simple guided meditations to start my day with. I like that I can sort by length because some mornings I have very little time.

Florida is really weird with seasons. You’ll find Floridas fall is more like northern spring-rainy, kinda chill and lots of flowers. I find Imbolc is the first day of spring in Florida. I find myself celebrating Imbolc differently then most because of how different the season is. This does make it hard to research or learn about the wheel of the year when the traditional model is a bit different then what is happening around me.

It's definitely proving to be something I've never experienced before. Imbolg is celebrated here because of my relationship with Brighid, but I'm finding it more difficult to connect to other more season-specific sabbats because the seasons are different. The Celtic Fire Festivals hold seasonal meaning, sure, but they also hold religious meaning for me so I find them easier to connect with. I've started creating my own celebrations around the Florida season. For example, it's Strawberry season here right now and I'm working on something to honor that. I did a ritual on June 1st last year to honor the beginning of Hurricane Season and ask for protection for my home. It's interesting, but I feel like I'm starting to find footing slowly but surely, as long as I look around me!

i think it can actually be harmful for your practice to repeat the same traditions, or read the same books. for example we never had altars here, because we didn´t have tables (not good with moveable huts). the huts were however highly ritualized, everything had its place in the hut (like the back corner was reserved for the idols, or for all the sacred items, like the drum). but even if the huts were similar, it was different for each witch.. for some the spirits came through the center pole (from both above and below), for others from the doorways, and for some they were already there (like the fire spirit was of course already there, one of the actual hut spirits or old womans). because you would think it´s the same if you live in a similar building, but it´s not at all, not at all! of course i mostly practice outside (sun witch) so none of that is relevant to me.. i´m forced to start from nothing every year (three days of sun this january, puck that). i would say it´s good either to know of different ways of doing things, or not know anything but experiment a lot.. like i experiment a lot, just outside.
