you can mention variable backpressure as pressure developed due to friction forces or hydraulic pressure. also in case multiple relief devices are connected to same header and relieving at a time.

@@PayosAcademy if superimposed backpressure is variable then is there any chance to restrict or block the discharge of PRV due to high pressure in superimposed back pressure if yes then how prv will work .I think it should be less than discharge pressure or constant .

brother as per my industrial experience i have seen rupture disk and PSV both are installed separately on the same header in the same vent line , if any things happen wrong then first PSV or PRV will control, if still process not in under control, then rupture disk will burst and save plant in safe condition, because rupture disk is a mechanical one-time used device and it is very costly ,so every time they can't rupture a disk if some process has tendency in pressure fluctuation or some time pressure testing of plant , even i have seen PSV and rupture disk have different pressure rating in that rupture disk have more pressure rating then PSV , almost 10% on PSV rating .

Very comprehensive coverage. Excellent. Pls explain that you mentioned earlier that PSV used for compressible fluids and PRV for incompressible ones but later many times you mentioned of PSV on pump discharge.
@PayosAcademy4 ай бұрын
Very Good observation Amitabh. You are absolutely right, PSV is used for compressible fluids and PRV for non compressible fluids. But the term "PSV" is used as a general term for all types of relief valves, regardless of the fluid type that's why I referred to it as PSV. Hope this will help you. Thank you 🙏

Hello, thank you for such a wonderful video. Regarding MAWP @14:12 you explained its defination by saying that from operating pressure we take design pressure and from the thickness obtained from designed pressure by taking the next upper standard thickness, the pressure at this standard thickness is MAWP. (part -1) If this is the case then @38:25, you are explaining about the Hydrotest which should be 1.5x of MAWP and equipment can withstand upto 4-5 x MAWP. (part-2) isn't it contradictory? The equiment should fail at (part-1 pressure already).

Sir, what will happen in a RD and Psv combo where RB burst but the PSV didnt popout
@PayosAcademy11 ай бұрын
Very good question. This can be a scenario but we do not consider double jeopardy while sizing PSV. For more related information related to rupture Disc and PSV combination please go through API 520 part 1 page 27. Hope this will be helpful.

If vessel at 10 meter from ground then in which scenario fire case or other case consider.? Asked in interview!
@PayosAcademyАй бұрын
It will depend on upstream and downstream system also. If it is coming in fire circle then only we will consider this vessel for fire case and calculate wetted area upto 7.6 m height. But in this case height is 10 m so 0 wetted area will be available for fire case scenario but we need to consider thermal expansion. We will upload a seperate video on this important topic for your better understanding. Stay tuned with us.

What is the criteria for choosing Design pressure and MAWP? As per my understanding, Design pressure is as per process requirement and MAWP is as per material thickness. Also MAWP is higher than Design pressure. Please correct me if my understanding is wrong.
