Very easily jagraj bhai said @ 6:35 that our (ie sikhi) concept of karma is different from hindus, when he knows well that karma is the profound knowledge of upanishads n the Gita. This is how hypocrits pose as innocents. . Now what is karma acc to sanatan vedic tradition, it says good n bad karma both have consequences and there is no escaping the karmaphal ie results of action. Karma ie ur actions will surely have consequences but not necessarily as you expect. Bad karma are not washed by bathing in ganga or doing yajna or naam jap, u will have to bear consequences of the bad karma but yes once you realise your bad karma , repentance and then followed by good karma will make you better equipped to face the consequences of your bad karma. There is no escape from the good or bad consequences of your own karma or actions. This is what the profound knowledge of karma yog.

for the people asking about why wasn't there women gurus or five beloved ones, its important to remember that five men had got up when the guru called for heads. if women would have gotten up at the time then it would have been women naturally. gurus picked a succeeding guru by his qualities and faith. though there were no women gurus, women held very high positions in sikhism. the 40 martyrs were shamed it was women that picked up weapons to go fight for the guru when the men deserted him. they fought in many battles, the list just goes on and on. it should be noted that the 10th guru had women as bodyguards, women made major political decisions, etc. at any time the sexes could have been different. it has to do with chance. what should be looked at is the position women hold now without the taboos like in other religions. i personally believe everything happened for a certain reason and it was in fact just God's will.

Well yes, but to add on, for the gurus, it was more of the society at the time. would people have listened to a women at that time? Nope. They would call her crazy, etc etc. The whole point was to get the message across and they wouldn’t listen to a women so the message wouldn’t be spread. Then the gurus worked to change that and made women preachers etc etc.

Concerned with "now and here", the Sikh way of life leads us straight to our goal--- the realization of God within us. We can find God and be united to him not after death in some unknown region but "now and here", in this very life. There will be no more delusion, no more sin. We get celestial peace, bliss and joy ever-lasting "now and here" in this very life. . . . . . Sikhism is thus a world affirming and a not world denying philosophy and religion. Dr. Edward A. de Bittencourt.

I am an atheist and an anti-theist for most religious texts, but sikhism does have some interesting progressive ideas. The "only god is male and we all are females to be ravaged and be subservient" bit was very weird though. Anyway, all that matters is what sikh people do today, and I see truly GREAT things like them not resorting to begging in any situation and serving food to everyone, occasionally mixed with some old school bigotry if you plan on marrying one of the women in their community. But that comes with all religions, the more religious you are, the more bigoted you become. In the case of sikhism, i do see some unique things i dont see in other religions.
@basicsofsikhi

+Rahul Philip Thanks Rahul. Sikhi is indeed very progressive. wrt to the marriage part, a non-Sikh can marry a Sikh woman (if she wants) but they cannot both take part in the ceremony of Anand Kaaraj, this is a ceremony where both are committing to Guruji and therefore quite logically its just for Sikhs. Thanks

it's not saying that God is physically male ( gurbani is very clear that God has no gender) they are saying approach god with love like a wife would aproach her husband that she loves. also gurbani says |tu Mera pita tu he mera mata| which means you are my father you are my mother it doesn't just refer to god as physically male it's just a metaphor :)

Ilyas.A Patel Think of God as the sun and Guru Nanak dev ji as the moon. The moon doesn't have any light of its own, but it reflects the light of the sun perfectly. Think of God as the ocean and think of guru Nanak Dev ji as a drop in the ocean. The drop is made up of everything the ocean is and it will merge with the ocean. Those are some metaphors we use in Gurbani to describe guru and god relationship

Basics of Sikhi .. I don't see the Part 2 of the video. I tried searching with the heading given. Could you kindly include the second part in the video description itself so that it is easy for everyone to go through it .. I appreciated a lot that the person was ready to have a dialogue.. He had the curiosity to learn about something he didn't already know.. He was not some kind of rigid person who once formulated some thoughts and ideas would not be ready to change his opinion towards a different perspective...

9:42 - what is the evidence of ghosts or unseen, undetectable? For this undetectable thing to have any impact on detectable (i guess somehow humans do perceive these) they would actually be detectable. To make some people claim 'seeing' something others can see, neuroscience and psychology have some tools to help with.

@@gsingh225 with due respect no sir! The one who converts the soul is the Almighty GOD! If GOD doesn't work in the hearts of men, no one can change them. The Gospel is preached because it's the sovereign commandment given to every believer in Christ Jesus to preach the Gospel to the ends of the world. The Gospel truly transforms a man to lead a Holy, Righteous and a life pleasing to GOD. The old wicked nature is gone and a new Holy life comes in. We start to hate sin, which is a hurdle between man and GOD. The joy of having fellowship with the Almighty GOD, is unspeakable. Words cannot describe. Jesus wants to have fellowship a relationship with Him. So He paid the price on the Cross to redeem us to Himself. *In Jesus there is Salvation, there is Hope and there is Eternal Life* We love you! We want everyone to be a part in *Heaven* where the Almighty GOD is, and not the gory hell. We want everyone to know the Truth. That is why we share the Good News. God bless you 🙏🏼

So I'm genuinely wondering about this because my girlfriend is sikh, can an atheist be sikh? I'm not sikh nor do i have any faith, but my girlfriend considers herself sikh but also an atheist. I've been reading up and it seems like sikhism is monotheistic, yet she says god is less of a being and more of an energy. I'm really not sure about this, so if anyone that sees this knows could you correct me? She doesn't really want to talk about it. Also what are the views on alcohol because she (not as much) and her sikh mother drink wine frequently, so I'm wondering about it in general. I think I might be reading it wrong, so is it only in sikh Gudwaras?

Bro we have only one guru that is guru granth sahib... It is a holybook which have hymns of god... We don't be leave in human god... god can bless anyone with its light but we just follow path according to guru granth sahib... guru nanak who started sikhism said... god is like sun we r like rays... god is like ocean we r like waves .... when sun sets rays goes back to its original home or creator sun... same is wave.... but nanak says some how rays and waves start thinking we r different... means humans start thinking we r different so this all illusion started.... someone ask why did god do like this why he made.... nanak said it is his will one can not know about god... He is like that child who makes a home near beach... when it is time to go home he kicks that home made of soil which he made with joy... child just made and destroyed home for nothing.... god makes things like this... he just plays....nanak said god knows why he does this... He is beyond limit and thinking.... In sikhism guru is light which shows path... It is not human... It is hymns which show path.... nanak gave name sikh... sikh means learner... nanak said learn learn whole of life till end of ur last breath... be a good human and better urself day by day.... then that day can come when u can go back to ur home.... learn from all good bad all people and situations... nanak said keep doing good things it is upto god to bless... One can not grab his blessings it is just god who wants to bless or not... He blesses all but he blesses with his light only who have removed their whole ego.... so guru is just a light which shows path of god....

Nothing in this universe is created or destroyed, merely transferred around in a constant cycle like reincarnation (water cycle, nitrogen cycle, the star cycle). I personally believe that what God is doing to the world is comparable to writing a novel because authors don't make their fictional worlds perfect but they influence it by making people do good stuff.

Patrycja Tamang a person who does good deeds gets his next birth as a human. A peraon who likes eating non vegetarian food and has wild passion will be given a body of a lion or other animal on which he can satisfy his desire. If somebody has excessive sexual desires, he will be given a body in which he can satisfy those desires. All other lofe forms are like a prison for soul. Other bodies are like prisom for the soul. The only way to get release from this body is through this human body. That os the reason there are other animals.

i really love your vids and the patience you give to explain sikhism but the only thing i dont like is that you can defeat karma by chanting gods name. as a hindu (born a hindu to a muslim majority family) i strongly dislike and disappointed anyone in any faith would not have to answer for their actions by appealing to god. the only way to defeat your bad karma is to do twice as much good deeds vs youyr bad ones. crying to god should not be a salvation . i know hindus and muslims have the same concept but i strongly dislike it..even hate it

@FrancescoRogai 2 жыл бұрын
In the Jewish tradition there is always been a day in which you could ask forgiveness to God for all of your sins, but not all the sins, only the sins made towards God, because God cannot forgive you for sins that you made to others, for those sins you need to apologize to the offended part, of you sin against your mother you need to go there and apologize and accept the consequence, you can't just say sorry to God because in this case God is not the offended part. To understand this you don't really need to be a religious person, you just need common sense of behaviour that is the one God put inside humanity to let them be able understand what do regardless and above any believes. It's very simple and this what muslim people don't understand, you can't cheat your wife and then just go ask forgiveness for God, this is ipocrety, God wants you to do the right thing, go to your wife and say what you have to say, because otherwise it would be to easy go to God and take advantage of his unconditional love and forgiveness and keep doing whatever you want, you need to take consequences of your actions.

Why is Punjab such a poor place compared to somewhere like Japan or Sweden where most people are Atheist?

***** I'm from a Sikh background and I can see that many people want to leave Punjab. Why is there a lack of opportunities in such a 'holy' land? People in India need to focus on education and science not meditation. Even with all of the religions in India there is a huge amount of poverty, female foeticide, rapes and corruption.

Because it's meant to be unlike sweden or korea. Sikhs are less in less in no. and even less are the SIKHS who follow the guru granth sahib. Most of the youths dont follow any relegion but selfism, doing drugs. The goverment is ignorant. Thus there is class divide. its BAD, but still better

I was born into a sikh family but could not convince myself to believe in God. I am also an atheist as well. There are soo many religions. For example, Sikhi is one of the thousand religions. So rationally speaking, the probability of it being the correct religion is 1 out of 1000. The same can be said for Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, etc. Also, religions tend to divide the society. Most of the so-called good values that religions preach were later on adopted by religions but were never fundamentally part of those religions.

There are many religions because people changed the scriptures and made their own religion. Read the quran and study it its really amazing. I am Muslim because of the quran and i read every scripture but they are really written by human i know that because how it is written. Read sikhism scriptures and you wil feel no connection to god or other scriptures but read quran and you wil deel that god is talking to you and this was my experience. Read! Just like Allah azza wa djal told us

Anika Kaur Guru Grant sahib is a poetic scripture and is written by a Guru and to me does not explain the purpose of life rather only praises god and the gurus in a poetic way. And secondly i have a question to sikhists How come that sikism only existed 500years ago? How come god didnt sent gurus in the beginning?

Adam Bgv k den i respect your opinion but don't tell someone what to read. we believe that the Guru Granth Sahib is the complete truth. so you have the some but not all of the other religions beliefs from their holy book. we came last because after the other religions, ours contains the whole truth of being a good human/person. (other sikhs: correct me if I'm wrong !)
@NoxCii

Anika Kaur There exist no religion that believes in the gurus except sikhism. Sikhism did copy things from other religions like the concept of reincarnation from hinduism, the concept of god from islam etc. We muslims believe god sent prophets and messengers from the beginning til the last and final prophet and messenger Muhammad (sal allahoe aleyhu wasalam). Angel jibril (aleyhu salam) revealed the quran to our beloved prophet Muhammad sal allahoe aleyhu wasalam who then teached it to his companions until they memorised it and understood the message. If you read quran it explains everything in life and gives our purpose of life and asks us to ponder over the quran and tells us to worship only him without associating any partners to him. Read the quran but before you read the quran read the biography of prophet Muhammad sal allahoe aleyhu wasalam so you wil understand the verses in the right context. May Allah azza wa djal lead you!

So everyone did deepmala(lightened the city) to show their happiness for their return Hence they call it deepawli( Diwali) 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻apologies for any mistakes

The 10th guru formed the "relegion". Which has the rules like not cutting hair, not doing drugs etc etc. That's fine, it was like betterment of the society, By cutting hair we defy what we were born as, by doing drugs we harm ourselves. While sikhism doesnt point to a GOD. It says that god is the essence, god is everywhere, well thats quite a brooaad idea of a GOD. So, if it is such a great thing for us humans how do we look towards, do we do that by being a good human? now sikhism as a relegion wouldnt quite be what it is today without the "TYRANT" afghans or mughals. Resistance to them gave us the MIRI part. So, were they really BAD? The holy scripture says that there's nothing good, nothing bad. its all the Mechanical society. It works on its own, So isnt that society a god in itself? So why do i worship it? why do i praise it? it gonna be no good for me. The best i can do for this godlike world is to prove that my existence isnt worthless. TO WORK. Sikhism is still on a quite better frontbcz its NEW and less ERODED. But, then having such a broad concept u cant put it in confines of a RELEGION, its more of a COMMUNITY and FAITH, and less of rules to live by.

@26:45 Talks about raaga. Origin of raaga is Sama Veda. Sikh Gurus did not invent it but vedic rishis did. Some of the vedic raagas were copied over to Granth Sahib so that verses can recited as poetry. Your claim that Granth Sahib only thing that has it is not true.

@nkb002 The inventor ragas - vedic rishis, gave the ragas in Sams Veda for recitation of the Vedas. How come guru granth saheb is only religious text whose verses are sung in ragas?? All Hindu religious texts were in fact recited in Ragas...Guru Arjan Dev's biography says he learned ragas from Hindu temples.

Yes dude, Sikhi concept of Karma is different from Hindu concept of karma. In Sikhi, we do believe that you can gain salvation thru Naam, even if you've bad karma. Don't get me wrong, it's not like you'll be doing bad deeds for a day, and then would sit for next 24 hrs chanting His name to get rid of that bad karma. It is more of a idea of yk you feel remorseful and you know that you are guilty and you want to correct that, you can go to God and ask for His forgiveness, and He rightly will forgive you. But as said, you need to be completely... (ugh, sorry i can't find the pin point word to describe what i wanna say, eng isn't my first lang)..completely sorry for that bad deed. Bec, Sikhi do say, The One God is the biggest Bakshanhaar, He'll will forgive you but then the condition being that actually need to be truly sorry for ur bad deed. Thank you.

⭐⭐⭐ *JESUS IS COMING VERY VERY VERY SOON* !🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺 The return of Jesus is at hand! JESUS IS THE *ONLY WAY* TO HEAVEN! 📖 John 14:6 says, " Jesus says, 'I AM THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. NO ONE COMES UNTO THE FATHER (in Heaven) BUT BY ME'. *JESUS CHRIST* is the only, true way to Salvation! It’s the free gift of GOD to all those who believe and trust Him! *SALVATION* ! is the redemption of one’s soul from eternal destruction after death of man, on this earth, by the cleansing of the blood, and by the death and power of resurrection of Jesus Christ 📖Acts.4:12 says. Salvation is found in no one else (except Jesus Christ), for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved." How is SALVATION gifted to man? For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. 📖John 3:3 says, Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Except a man be Born Again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. How can a man be *BORN-AGAIN* ? To be Born-Again in spiritual sense, is to die to our old sinful nature and be born-again in the spirit, to be holy, righteous with a new nature in Christ Jesus. 👉To be born-again, we need to repent & confess our sinful past for a holy future. What is *REPENTANCE* ? 👉 REPENTANCE! Everyone born into this world is a Born-sinner. Human nature is a sinful nature. Sin in us has defiled us and has separated us from the Holy Gowit We have to repent for all the unholy, lawless transgressions of God’s commandments done willfully or unknowingly, in order to obtain mercy and grace so that we might not be judged and fall into condemnation, the condemnation of eternal hell. 📖 Acts.3:19 says,..✔️Repent, then, and turn to GOD, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the LORD What is *CONFESSION* of sins? 👉 CONFESSION! The guilt of sin and it’s condemnation is rolled away if one truly regrets his sinful past and confesses them in the presence of Jesus Christ. 📖Romans.10:9 &10 ✔️That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. 📖 1 John, 1st chapter & verse 9 says.. ✔️If we confess our sins, He (Jesus Christ) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins(every sin)... The sole purpose of sending Jesus Christ into this world more than 2020 ago is this👇 📖John.3:16-17 says " 👉 GOD so loved the world (us) that He (Father GOD) gave His only begotten Son to die for us ( our redemption ), that whosoever believes in Him (Jesus) should not perish (in hell) but have everlasting life. 👉 GOD has not sent His Son to condemn the world (us), but the world (we) through Him (Jesus Christ) might be saved. ⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩ *Dear Bro/Sis* .🙏🏼, You may be of any race, religion or creed. Rich or poor. White or black or brown. You may be the least sinner or the worst sinner on earth. You may leading the worst of immoral life against the principles of the Almighty GOD. God is concerned about your future and not your past. All He asks you is to repent and confess your sins to obtain mercy and have a secured and a blessed hope! 📖 Hebrews.10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ *If you say this small prayer with faith* . 👇 “ LORD JESUS, I am a sinner, I have committed so many sins knowingly and unknowingly. Have mercy on me. Please forgive my every sin with your precious, Holy blood shed on the cross to save me. I believe you died on the cross, you were buried and rose again the third day for my justification. I believe you are the Almighty GOD! Accept me as your child. Help me to lead a holy life. Fill my heart with joy, give me heart to seek you. In Jesus precious name, I ask and believe. Amen!🙏🏼 ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ 👆 If you have said this prayer, I can assuredly tell you that you are a new creation. You are Born-Again in the spirit through the righteousness of Jesus Christ. 📖 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 👉 Be Holy as the LORD your GOD is Holy! ⏩ *FORSAKE SIN* ! 📖Proverbs.28:13 says..✔️He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. 👉📖Mark.16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not 📌shall be condemned ⏩Read the Bible 📖⏩Know the Truth⏩Go to a Christ centered Church⏩Be Baptized⏩Be Blessed! ⏩May the Holy Spirit GOD lead you & guide you! 👉 Be prepared for the RAPTURE!
