Creating the sun and the moon, He infused His Light into them. naa tad maa-i-aa magan na chhaa-i-aa naa sooraj chand na jot apaar. There is no intoxication of Maya there, and no shadow, nor the infinite light of the sun or the moon. chand sooraj du-ay jot saroop The moon and the sun are both the embodiment of light sooraj chand karahi ujee-aaraa. The sun and the moon give their light sas ghar soor deepak gainaaray. He placed the lamps of the sun and the moon in the home of the sky. aapay sarisat upaa-idaa pi-aaraa kar sooraj chand chaanaan. The Beloved Himself created the Universe; He made the light of the sun and the moon. aapay hasai aap hee chitvai aapay chand soor pargaasaa. @@LAHFKALHF do not read the English translation, that's the biggest mistake u have made. The meaning of Jot is not only light but also divine energy, which means that God also resides in the moon and sun. The same jot is inside us.

the challenges are usually with training people with enough knowledge to be able to educate, back up false info for debates and answer questions, and also having the man power to mobilize them to a larger scale. we have basics of sikhi in many different parts of the world where it's done off camera too.

I started to dig deeper into what Sikhism values lately because of what's happening in Canada, and I've been completely intrigued. I love it so much! I'm a Buddhist-Agnostic, and this spirituality is very much inspiring! I've had the pleasure of working with a few people who are Sikh, and very much value them. I really thank you for following such a pure path! Thank you.

Good idea - the english translations of Guru Granth Sahib Ji are poor to be honest - we've found it powerful to share the principals of Sikhi and encourage them to explore simple meditation and going to Sangat and start their journey of spirituality and they can of course watch as much Katha and Kirtan as they want on Basics of Sikhi!

So ... i am NOT a Sikhi ,but i believe i am on a similar path. But i have a few questions i'm struggling with ... firstly, what is the concept of silence for Sikhi's ? is it meanigfull ? I believe the "language of God is silence, the rest is poor translation". This is not based on belief ,on rationalisations or concepts , bot on an experience ,an experience which happens when i focus on inner silence. I feel like it is the experience sikhis talk about ,a deep conncetion to God, to love. Secondly. It seems obvious that thought is what hides God from us... Like you say ,we have to tame the mind... But then when i can completely surrender to God ,to silence, i feel like thoughts are completely unecessary, they only obscure the connection to love... So then ,if i am correct about this and i think i am (i don't know for sure because i cannot stay in silence forever ,the world keeps distracting me) then what are thoughts for ? because the only thing they really seem to do is hide the Creator ,which is dumb ,i don't want the creator to be hidden ,so why did the creator create a system that hides Himself ?

Because reincarnation is a form of hellfire. There are different levels of hellfire where suffering and pain exists within them. The best way to combat the silence you mention is to do paat or nitnem (daily prayers) and find a good local Sangat (holy congregation) most likely at your nearest Gurdwara. The Guru teaches that the highest point of finding the creator is meditating on the creators name in sangat (the highest point of spirituality) , and then the creator can be found within.

@@basicsofsikhi that’s fine, but also teach them what the real name is - Darbar Sahib, otherwise we will remain trapped in slavery by the oppressors/disbelievers (British colonisers) who oppose and have opposed Sikhi for generations . Great video really interesting. Quick question. If Sikhs encourage other people to follow their religion right? but they themselfs believe in reincarnation then for example christians believing that only thought Jesus you can enter heaven wouldn't that end up contradicting? Reincarnation is a form of hellfire. There are many levels of hellfire as written in Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Only those who follow Gurmat way of life can achieve Sukh (peace) in Sachkhand (realm of the creator, where your soul becomes one with the creator again). If you live a fantastic life as a disbeliever, you will be born as a Sikh in your next life.

No, because the majority of drawings of the Gurus are from non Sikhs . It is said in Baani that Guru Nanak dev Ji maharaj did not even have a single white hair of the beard, yet every portrait of them is with one. Do not allow the illusions of idol worship define Sikhi. Sikhi is beyond time and measure as well as idol worship and superstitions.
