It’s absolutely heart wrenching how Basil grieves for Mari. We didn’t really get to see how Basil grieved after Mari died, (disregarding what actually happened) he LOVED her, he felt safe with her, and he lost her. It feels nice to see how much Basil’s relationship with Mari existed without Sunny or anyone else. Also him and Kel. I wish we could have seen him and Hero’s relationship as well.

Safe Space really represents anxiety and how things can just go wrong for no reason. One wrong thought.. and it all comes tumbling down. Polly is trying her best to help Basil, but she just can’t, and oftentimes accidentally makes it worse. As someone with SUPER awful anxiety… yeah. Sometimes when I try to think of the good times, my brain goes too far back, or too derailed that I remember something that makes me feel worse. It’s often better to not think at all. Just keep going on monotonously, live every day like the last, you may be alive, but you are never truly living. This is what Basil’s Grief feels like to me. Monotonous, but in a good way. What else would Basil do if his mind is no longer safe, and the outside world treats him harshly? “I could remove the “ represents unwanted thoughts, obviously, but for someone with anxiety these thoughts can linger for longer than normal (at least for me), and make you think of all of the possibilities should that thing happen. Any thought, unwanted or not, can make one’s brain spiral. At the time of editing/writing this, it was raining and I was in a portable. I recalled information that aluminum (what the portable stairs are made out of) are highly conducive, along with the fact that it was supposed to storm later, lightning and all. I don’t think I have to explain what I thought of. If I remembered that lightning strikes are rare, I probably wouldn’t have ‘panicked’ as much. In all honesty, it wasn’t that bad. Sorry for going on about this, by the way. I also used shears for the first time as recently as a couple weeks ago, to pick wildflowers for a vase inside. They weren’t that sharp, and they had a safety lock, but whenever I think about it in hindsight, I think about Basil. Again, sorry for getting off topic/typing too much. Good luck out there, and at least try to have fun, if you can. You don’t have to be a sunflower, but you could at least try to be a daisy, yknow? (I’m wrong about the text my bad…) wait.. doesn’t Basil wear short-sleeves? How come Polly didn’t notice the marks on the second day? Did she just not want to pry?? Or maybe she moved Basil to his bedroom after fixing him up??

The bad ending was truly something. And it was really really sad. I have to say, this interesting spin on perspective by shifting it away from Sunny to Basil felt really fresh! There are a few inconsistencies here and there, and it's a shame it's not a full on OMORI playthrough from the POV of the Babil. But it was great nonetheless, huge props to the mod author.

Slight thing of note: if you dislike criticism, reading this may not be the best idea. I liked a lot about this mod. Most of it felt very much like the base game, and i really enjoy the idea of Basil and the group being able to heal even without Sunny. I especially LOVED the concept of safe space- Basil having his own version of white space tailored towards him was something i'd really been hoping to see. (Negative-ish opinion incoming) With that being said, i REALLY dislike the last few scenes of the good ending. I'm not saying the concept of Basil coming clean about Mari to the others is bad- it would be great if he was eventually able to do that. I just thought the execution was very rushed, like it was bolted onto the ending with 0 buildup purely for the sake of it being the game's main plotpoint. Really felt like something that Basil would probably reveal later than this, once his friendships strengthened again. I understand that others probably won't agree, so feel free to disagree as long as things stay civil. (Also cheers for reading my poorly written essay/comment)

I sort of agree on that it felt kind of rushed, but in a mod like this there really isn't much time to do stuff like that. It already felt like the game went on a bit too long at certain points and I wished the ending was a BIT more satisfying but overall I still feel like this mod was enjoyable. I think it would've benefited in Basil's dialogue getting less and less negative if you were on the good route so that the ending doesn't feel like it gets "jumped into"
