I used to admire Swoops. Now I am embarrassed for her. Do your research. Clark is in her fourth season (no COVID year). She is a bonified senior and will break the scoring record in fewer games, and she just turned 22 (not 25). As far as shooting for the 2023-2024 season, she has never taken more than 23 shots in a game, including 3 pointers, not the 40 per game Swoops asserts. All of these facts are easily looked up on the Internet (I just did), in less time than Swoops rant. Stop hating.

Just in case people are confused on what is going on. There’s a lot of judgement because Clark is doing so well. Almost unbelievably well, but she’s an absolute solid basketball player and all her accomplishments can be verified. Folks tend to want to disprove that she is somehow not really really that good or she has some “cheat year, or she’s alot older”. And Swoopes has done that unfortunately in an attempt to disqualify her achievements. Entirely unwarranted and stems from a bit of jealousy, fear of people losing jobs (as she stated) and possibly because of Clark’s color of her skin.

So according to Swoops logic, which is very flawed, then LeBron being the all time leading scorer shouldn't count. Kareem played all 4 years at UCLA while LeBron came in right out of highschool as a starter. So he had a 4 year head start(That's 328 games). Caitlin Clark takes 20 shots a game on average, not 40. I've been a fan of Sheryl Swoopes for 30 plus years, that won't change. But she clearly didn't do her research here, and I truly hope that she steps up and takes responsibility for her errors and apologizes to Caitlin Clark. The one take I agree with is that CC won't just walk into the WNBA and put up the same numbers, but credit should be given where it's due, she's the best collegiate Women's basketball player I've ever seen.
