Imagine if Steve Kerr, Phil Jackson, Doc Rivers or Greg Popovich had coached this team... Coach K. might be a good coach, but I don't believe he could coach an NBA contender to a title. In order to this, I think this team underperformed regarding it's impressive roster. From today's perspective Tyson Chandler might be the worst player, BUT he was the NBA's defensive player of the year in 2012. And the bench was prime D-Will + young Russ + young beard + prime Melo + young AD + prime K-Love and prime Iggy. And, of course, 4 all time greats in the starting 5 with Kobe, LeBron, CP3 and KD. This roster has been amazing. And it would be a great matchup to see Team USA 2012 vs. Team USA 1992.

Moreover, in history, there has been only one player to be professional at the age of 14, that was Ricky Rubio. Luka Doncic was 16. I grew up in the era when Michael was about to retire and Kobe was rising to become a star. Before the 2000’s, there was no replacement for Michael, he was extremely dominant and he was incredible in both defensive e and offensive ends. Unlike Michael, Kobe wasn’t loved by everyone when he was playing. In fact, there was a period of time when people gave him different negative names. For me, I started to really like him after Shaq left LA, Kobe really showed the world how competitive and responsible being the star of the Lakers. I never regret getting that front row ticket for Lakers vs Suns game in 2007. Thank you Kobe and your amazing career!

Spain played more fluent team basketball. USA had and always has the best individual players. I looked at the box score of this game- US had a TOTAL of only 13 assists on 34 made FG. Which is obscenely low. Spain had 22/33. Much better.

I'm not actually that surprised it was this close, Spain are probably the next best basketball nation and they play together in competitions a lot. Even a monster NBA line-up can't take a tight unit like that lightly.

Yeah, funny everybody in the comments is praising USA, but not so many comments acknowledging how TIGHT the final result was for a all-star NBA team to play against Spain. Which, believe me, we are known for Soccer, not really Basketball.... so this loss against USA was pretty amazing in my opinion

All the European teams have chemistry…practice and play together throughout every year. USA slaps a team together every 2 years and plays pick up basically and wins. Imagine if they got to build the same team over and over and practice together.

Spain is second FIBA rankings, but the talent pool is much deeper in the US. Losing to the USA 107-100 in basketball is pretty much as close as any country will get in basketball in a while.
