Respect to the Original Euroleague Trophy gentlemen. Bodiroga lifting it in Bologna made my childhood.

Man, as a Virtus fan this is when Virtus was great! Went from winning the European Cup with Sasha Danilovic to passing the torch to Ginobili and winning the Euroleague. What teams!! I also have my retro Kinder jerseys of Danilovic [3 of them] and Ginobili . People here in Indiana have no idea what I am wearing. lol And last thing- Danilovic was supposed to also be on this team [2000-2001] but retired after the first day of practice. At 30 years old!

The title of the video should be "HOW VIRTUS BOLOGNA WON 1ST EVER EUROLEAGUE TITLE!". Donatas really knows a lot about italian basketball! Great job! You definitely should make a video about history of italian basketball.

You guys should upload you watching the entire game! I would 100% watch it, I think that everytime I see one of your Nasketnews Retro! Cheers from an Italian guy who lives in the US and doesn't care for NBA at all!

Refreshing show. I'm an American that has divorced the NBA to be with my long time International mistress. 13 players have won both Euroleague and NBA titles. The most recent one being Giannis' brother Kostas. With the bubble '20 Lakers and this year with the Greens. Seems like ex Laker players have won the most times. Notably legendary Bob McAdoo. One of the greatest Americans to play in Europe.

Do your homework!! CSKA and Efes great teams at the time? No stinking way. They were more pariah teams. All the best teams were in Euroleague and what better authority than Obradovic, who won the FIBA league with Pana and immediately said "nobody cares, we should move to Euroleague". And yes there were 3 or 4 Italian teams because Italy was a basketball powerhouse back then. Do your bloody homework if you don't want to look like morons

This video made my day! Forza Virtus! 🤍🖤 By the way: Bologna had (and still has) around 400.000 habitants (more than 1 million with the neighboring towns, which are de facto the same urban area). So it is not a metropolis, but not very small either… It is known as “Basket City” because it is the only Italian city with two historical basketball clubs, which in some moments competed both at the highest level in the national championship and in Europe. Italy was much more rich back in the 80-90s: therefore its sport teams were definitely more capable of spending. Right now, after years in purgatory due to financial distress, Virtus has a owner who’s very passionate and invested in the team and lot, but we’re quite behind the Euroleague powerhouses. Fortitudo, sadly, is still financially struggling and it’s trying to fight their way up from the Italian second division 😔

Armani is more historic when it comes to Italian basketball, but Virtus is more passionate. Milano fans seem to look at basketball like a theater. Let's go out, and we don't care about who wins and who loses. Bologna fans had to endure a lot of es eits ai ti for 20 years, and for them to be that passionate and that active about their basketball team, that's what I respect. Virtus' heyday was in the 90s, while Milano was in the 80s. Yet Milano has been a Euroleague team consistently for a long time, while Bologna had to endure a LONG absence. It might be the only city in Italy where they care more about basketball than football.
