13 years ago, we had playoff finals in Serbia, Bjelica was a pointguard in those games, so he done it all positions. Fantastic player and i hated when in NBA they pushed him on spot up shooter at 5. He's a all around player!

Dont hate it my friend, the Warriors are just exploiting mismatches offensively, as intelligent as Beli is we know his capable of doing things on the court, taking adjustments to different opponents to have advantages, that's how they use Beli.

the NBA does that to pretty much all Euro players until you can prove you can do something else, only exception is Doncic because even Jokic was made to be a role player at first, it's mostly based on American prejudices and it's stupid.

Pretty much his whole career he has been playing all positions, mainly point guard. So if you see bigs from Serbia that can play make, handle the ball and shoot, it's because they are taught to play basketball as a whole, not just a set of skills for certain position.

He's not, and never was the guy that you limit in position, that's why his game was not great in Min and Sac. In Serbia and former Yugoslavia we grow up playing non positional basketball, it's something that we are proud of, youll never see a guy from Serbia or former Yougoslavia that is not a properly schooled player. Give us freedom in game you'll get the best of us, like Jokic, Doncic, Kukoc, Drazen Petrovic, Bojan and Bogdan Bogdanovic, Stojakovic, Vucevic, Divac, Bodiroga (never played in NBA but selected by NBA and FIBA as the best player that never went oversas), Radja, Nesterovic, Nurkic, Dario Saric, Danilovic, Pero Antic, Djordjevic, Paspalj, Zizic,... there are two exceptions which as we say "legitimate the rule" those are Boban Marjanovic and Stojko Vrankovic (they are/were physically limited with height of 7'3+). Bjelica could have done it his whole NBA career... You could say that he used to be beter before... Why the coaching staff in Minesota and Sacramento didn't see it is another question. The same goes for american perception of Toni Kukoc... He had a lot more to offer... It is wery funny to me wenn Draymond Green says: I didn't know... Your basketball knowledge ends within NBA "bourders"...

What? It was Minn then Sixers deal that went thru and he was halfway back to Europe when Divac signed him to Kings. He gets the credit for getting him to come back to nba. Bjelica got way more playing time, responsibilities and made his nba reputation in Sac. Then Miami shat the bed last yr by not playing him and this yr GS is sleigh using him properly. Dont know where you got that Sac thing. I do believe that the new GM McNair wasn't a fan since he cares about physical skills way more and Bjelica was in the way of his muscular, athletic rebuild... but before that he was appreciated in Sac. Thibodeau, McNair and Spoelstra were the ones who blew it (not sure what happened to Sixers deal). Divac and Kerr get the credit for seeing the skills. Certain basketball people think brute force is the only way, certain think that playmaking, shooting, passing, high vision/iq, dealing w/pressure is important too. You can easily tell which of the groups wouldnt be into Bjelica skill set and which would.

Ah give Draymond a break, we're not exposed to basketball outside the US, like you are to us unless it's the Olympics or there's a popular NBA draft prospect playing over there. Even with the Luka hype we didn't get his full games played over here, we got highlights of a guy which was maybe good enough to be a top pick. If we got Euro tournaments played on T.V. here people could've maybe seen he was a worthy number one. Even then rarely are they a sure thing. Never heard of Bjelica until Minnesota where he looked like just a nice shooter.

Probably one of the reasons why Golden State signed Bjelica is because of their assistant coach Dejan Milojević. Milojević is also from Serbia and he knows what is Bjelica capable off. As a player Milojević played center position, even if he didn't have a height he was very successful because he is very intelligent. Later on Milojević was a head coach of Serbian club where young Jokić, Boban and Micić(euroleague mvp) used to play, and he had a big role in their development. Good job for Golden State by signing Milojevic and Bjelica

What more can you ask for from this guy. I was elated when the Dubs picked him up. As a matter of fact, he left bigger pay days from other teams to come play with ours. @alasdairmacdonald9838
@alasdairmacdonald9838 2 жыл бұрын
His play has been a little inconsistent in the last stretch of games and he certainly isn't looking as good as he was during pre season and the first stretch of games in the regular season so far for the Dubs. Let's acknowledge the fact that compared to The T Wolves and Kings having no idea how to play him he's a perfect fit in Kerrs motion offense in GSW. He can do just about everything offensively well enough to make him incredibly versatile, especially at his size. I think his passing and on court IQ are probably his best qualities myself. However there are some not so great things about him too. He's slow and get's easily beaten on the defensive end by the never ending stream of very athletic wings and guards in the NBA. He's hardly alone in this but nevertheless it sometimes makes it very hard for him to stay on the court. This is probably why his minutes haven't been as much or as consistent as you might expect. The simple fact is that OPJ while not necessarily being an overall better player, he's more playable in more situations against more opponents. Lastly, perhaps he's just trying to adjust and find his role on the team, but recently he's been super hesitant to shoot, like really missing the opportunity to shoot wide open 3s pretty consistently. I know he doesn't have a very quick release so perhaps it's that. But for someone with his reputation it's been a little odd. Overall though as a dubs fan I was more than pleasantly surprised with what an amazing pickup he's been especially for the minimum. I hope we get the chance to resign him at the end of the season.

Around 50 players from former Yugoslavia made it to NBA.

So basically he's a 2016 Draymond with a better shot. Draymond was basically a hybrid center/pg back when the warriors were at their peak. His only flaw was an inconsistent shot and we all know them euroleagers never have shooting problems.

With Draymond's sloppy & costly TOs vs Suns (& before) Beli should get some of Dray's minutes - he shoots 3s, at the rim and excellent passing.

I am glad that people are seeing this. The moment Bjelica got benched in that game, and Green got in to close out the game, Suns created a gap and never looked back. Beli is way more skilled player , bad luck going to Wolves and Kings after , they limited him to shoot. This guy was a Jokic before Jokic. NBA Bball is forcing you to take up on a role, 3 and D was his until he signed with Warriors , this is how we play in ex Yu , you learn to do everything

Steve Kerr knows what hes doing. He is dosing his minutes rn, i mean warriors are first in the west, u cant ask more, and as playoffs come closer i expect at least 25-30 minutes from Beli, he can run a playoff with those minutes but not the whole season, he is older guy and its expected. I believe he could be better on defense because i know how good and smart he is.

Everybody from Serbia has big basketball iq Jokic, Bogdanovic, Bjelica ,Teodosic..., in the past Vlade Divac Pedja Stojakovic ..., that is because of traditional Serbian basketball school create by PROFESOR Aleksandar Nikolic, that has been pass to Ranko Zeravica, Duda Ivkovic, Zeljko Obradovic, Svetislav Pesic and in later years Aleksandar Djordjevic. Serbia is land of Basketball.
